No problem, I thought you meant one of our a/c!

So you've heard about their jubilee clip repair!

Gassing to a pilot of the said airline a few days ago, he seemed pretty confident that GB would be firther expanding at MAN in the coming months. He suggested a further A320 would be heading MAN's way which would operate some non-sunshine routes, and suggested Moscow and St. Petersburg were possibilities.

Is this in fact more to do with the CX situation at MAN? If BA (or a subsid) operate to Russia from MAN, it well and truly puts CX's plans to operate to MAN via Moscow in further predicament?

Cool

BA, being a Oneworld partner, who have traffic rites to Moscow, were fully aware of an informed of CX's plans to fly via SVO as part of theOneworld agreement, and had no objection to it being done. It was BMI who had the rites and never flown the route who objected about CX's plan, seems they got their way.

Even though expressly forbidden under our scope agreement

Interesting ETOPS - what does the scope agreement cover? Presumably not aircraft size in general, as they would use the same aircraft already used elsewhere. Is there a 'banned' destination list?

It covers all BA flying with 100 seats or more - thus A320 are within the agreement.

Is there a 'banned' destination list?
Yes - only problem is it appears to be a "state secret". It is contractually agreed between BA and BALPA and forms part of our contract of employment. Yes it does - I can see you all shaking your heads

The list is considered commercially sensitive and thus has never been released, but you can infer something about it by looking at the destinations served by GB and BMED. If MAN - DME isn't on it I will eat my (brand new) hat.......

Where've you heard that Vuelo? It would have been more prudent to swap ARN for MAN, but MH is still operating as directed by the great leader.

March Passenger Figures

Another very poor set of traffic figures for March - down 3.7% on March 2005. This is turning out to be a bad year - passengers down, Cathay postponed, Malaysia Airlines withdrawing. We need some good news!

There are a few reasons
1 Easter is very late this year
2 the charter market is a dieing breed as has had the same effect at most airport throughout the UK
3 The UK market is not as boyant as it has been
4 BA Regional/Connect dropping 8 routes

Re new services and loosing others
Malasian has gone due nothing to do with Manchester but it`s own problems
Cathay is due problems beyond Manchester`s control

Good News

Bangladesh, Etihad, Delta, extra Qatar, Flybe, Icelandair,
Norwegian, Atlasjet, extra Air Southwest

Hey G-I-B,

Thanks for the good news summary! I know that Cathay and Malaysia are beyond the control of MA PLC, but it still adds to the feeling of gloom so far this year. Good to be reminded of some positives.

Jet Airways (9W) of India is looking at Manchester and Birmingham for 2007. Their chairman Naresh Goyal gave an interview to The Times in which he told of plan to operate to the UK regions:
Goyal, for his part, is working to introduce the first flights to India from regional airports in Britain after the Indian Government this month cleared his proposed $500 million (£285 million) takeover of the rival Air Sahara to create the country’s biggest airline by far. In what would mark the beginning of a new generation of provincial flights to India, Goyal plans to begin services from Manchester and Birmingham next year.

Jet is trying to consolidate its position at LHR for the moment. LHR-Mumbai goes double daily in July and LHR-Amritsar begins in August with the arrival of their A332s.
