The FCA longhaul expansion is still in its infantry. I think it will probably be '07 until they start 'branching out'.
There are more a/c yet to be delivered, and new routes that yet have to prove themselves.
They are obviously going to concentrate on the majors for now (LGW and MAN), get it all running smoothly and then consider options.
Unfortunately by then, it may be too late.
Oh and by the way, when is the first continental via SNN flying.
First of May?

I think you'll find that BY class SSH as a long haul service in the winter, and your a day late with the direct EWR service the first flight departs BRS on the 20th may!!!
Yes Windsheer thats DIRECT NON STOP service which means no stopping at CWL/SNN/DUB/Anywhere else you think it will stop.

SSH - Long haul? in that case First Choice have been doing long haul for years out of BRS and we never realised, well there aint a great deal in flying time diffrence to LCA than SSH really, plus how long has BRS been operating BJL, got to be 4 years now, and that was an Air2000 to start with, cuh dunno what all the fuss is about - BRS is a long haul airport, well according to Thomsons and we all just didn't realise it!

I will answer your questions on longhaul.
A long haul flight is anything over 5 hours 30 minutes. Regardless of what brochures say. If, due to extreme headwind, it takes 5 hours 31 minutes to get to LCA then that becomes a longhaul flight.
Concorde was classed as a short haul aircraft, thats how Mike Bannister used to fly it often - he is chief short haul pilot for BA.

Can't find anything about Hurghada on the BRS official website - now why does that not surprise me?
There is a press release on the website though about weekly flights to Taba commencing this October.
Re the CO to EWR, you might like to check the 'Cardiff-Longhaul flights !!!' thread on this forum where there is a comment about ticket sales.
It is a throw-away remark with no 'supporting evidence'. Make of it what you will.

MV - website 'ahem' no comment!!!
Couldn'f find any info either on Hurghada apart from on Xl.com.
The comments on the CWL page who gives a f#@k. I believe Yield is better than Load. Who cares if there isn't 172 seats taken on every flight Im sure staff will find this usefull with standby's etc.
My question is who has decided that the loads aren't great I am sure we will see them at 150 + per flight which I believe is almost 88% full that can't be bad

So how did May 01st go for everyone? I was working all day and seemed to go very well i thought, think the only prob was a delay on the KM, all XLA/MYT/BY/FCA's out on time from what i know anyway, baggage belts in new extention still causing headaches, also i see FCA and S-Air trailed multi check-in for the PFO/FAO and apparently it went without a hitch, infact both went early. I'm impressed!

Glad to see the belt problem in new extention seems to have been sorted(touch wood), if anyone was unaware of what the problem was, at the end of the belt before the spacer section there was a lovely bit of plastic that had been put there to flip large bags on there side, but it wasn't doing its job and instead bags would get stuck there! Ingenious! the bags would fall on their side when the hit spacer belt anyway!! thankfully after a disasterous Monday morning in which the belt went down constantly whilst 5 jets checking in, and numerous complaints from Servisair and the airline reps the bit of plastic was removed, wonder if it had anything to do with me saying that I'd rip the bloody thing off with my hands if it was still there on Tues had anything to do with it?
Well done BIA, it only took the best part of 3 weeks to realise a worthless bit of plastic was causing chaos, oh well lets hope it all runs a bit smoother now

I believe the useless bit of plastic is the similar to what handling agents and security have been asking for on the B line for years.
New Arivals area looks great new entrance to domestic/channel isles and Irish channels look very professional and worhty of an International Airport....
...Shame they are for domestic use mainly!!!

Vasto, your right, i believe it is to do with the scanner, what i was saying though is that 99% of the bags fall on there side anyway when they come off the main check-in belt that runs behind the agents and hits the spacer belt

NCLRules: Charters - 2 x DP 321, BY 757, VZ 320, HH 734 and a KM 320. Schedules: anywhere between 3 and 6 resident BA Embraers and 7 (soon to be 8) Easyjets 737's. KLM and SN Brussels night-stop as well. Not much spare space really! There's no BY 767 based - once a week to PMI on Fridays.
