It isn't a matter of public record yet, but they have applied for slots at both MAN and STN for this operation - roughly 0730 and 1730 departures ex STN and flights ex MAN 1h30 later. Given that the more profitable "end" of the route for Eastern was in Stansted-originating traffic coming up to Manchester for the day, this could be a problem for it if Air Berlin launch with a cheaper, better schedule.

Anyone know what Jet2 are up to with the MAN-AMS route? Their website only has it available till Jan 8th '06 - please tell me they aren't pulling off the route? Would be a shame on 2 counts - a) the revised schedule from the end of October looks more business-friendly so should get more traffic; and b) KLM charge an arm and a leg on the route which will make cheap trips home a problem unless I go to LPL!

Just out of curiosity, who flies the BA MAN-JFK service. Are the flight deck crew / cabin crew mainline or Citiexpress? Who does the aircraft fly for?

ok the man - jfk

flightcrew are ba mainline

cabin crew- majority are BAR crew on a mainline contract with a few citiexpress crew thrown in for measure

when you book on ba.com it says the route is owned by mainline

the aircraft and route is owned by BA as the aoc for citiexpress only covers europe.

However the money from the route goes into citiexpress coffers, its about the only route that makes money, 2 milion profit at the last shout

And news on the grapevine is its going to Mainline crew and will be a mainline route once the aircraft has been "dusked", which will be sometime next year or the year after with the time the mods are taking.

I don't really care who operates it.

As long as it stays and isn't scrapped or given to AA, just because it doesn't suit their LHR-centricity

I can't see ZB giving up Madrid...they almost never succumb, and especially never succumb on a route where the only other operator is British Airways!

If MAplc want a really successful Madrid service, they want to attrac Iberia back, and it can feed nicely in to IB's long-haul network. IB merely codesharing with BA doesn;t do the same thing.

..and whilst they're at it - get Iberia back on the Barcelona route. One wonders what happened to all the C class pax that used to use IB, now they are stuck with the bucket & spade ZB service.

My BA spies tell me the C class BCN pax went to BHX for their direct service, instead.....it's full C class most days so they say.

While it is great that Jet2 have a LBA Rome service in the pipeline, i's a shame MAN was not given a direct link to the Italian capital aswell. Though lets look at the facts, now we have a Ryanair service from LPL and a Jet2 from LBA and the AZ to MXP frpm MAN, I can;t see us getting a Rome service in the near future.

Though if a far eastern longhaul starts like Thai, Garuda, China Eastern or Cathay, they might route in to MAN via ome...? It's just a thought!

I see Cathay have applied for slots again, this year they have been given T1 slots, arriving about 7am and departing 9am, though i don't see them starting much before summer 06...unless somewhere here knows different?

Monarch to Madrid, Maersk to Copenhagen

Monarch are giving up Madrid as not showing on their website as available in November. The timetable originally said 4 per week as reported by Le Bob biut when you tried to book there were no flights.

Look at their website yourself Vuelo if you don't believe it.

The same situation arises with Maersk to Copenhagen- can't book flights for the winter on their website, although its in the timetable. Is this another airline pulling the plug from Manchester??l

The BHX - BCN flights are never full C class as most C class pax refuse to travel on small aircraft. They only do if they need to get there urgently. Mass's of pax travel to LHR from MAN to recieve a proper C class service that will let them work on the aircraft.
