NCL Handling Agents

What do people who fly into/out of NCL regularly make o the two handling agents, Swissport and Servisair?

In the past Servisair was always the largest agent but Swissport have gained quite a few contracts recently (BE, LH, WF and quite a few charter companies) with more contracts apparantly up or renewal soon. Some reports also suggest that one or two airlines are not very happy with Servisair. What is the problem and will NCL gain a third handling agent, as rumoured in the past? Surely NCL is a large enough airport to justify three and is it not strange that Aviance have not got a presence?

If Swissport gain all these contracts will it not prove too much, as my personal experience of them is not too favourable!

Who will handle the new services commencing shortly, eg American, Jet2?

Lets here you thoughts.....

If things dont change quick at servisair they wont have any airlines to handle..... or staff......

Expect to see Ryanair go to swissport in a few months.

Easyjet contract is up for renewal in november to start in march 2006. I expect that both servisair and swissport are fighting at the min to get this.

Ive heard that servisair is most likely to get both AA and JET2.
If they do god help those airlines and pax..

Servisair needs to have a good look at the operations at NCL.
They need to go back to the begaining and get staff, and ground equipment. Staff Rota's need to improve a lot as staff are starting at the wrong times and finishing at wrong times.

There will be no FCA flights through NCL during summer 2006.

Thomsonfly will now operate the wednesday Verona

Jet2 has already gone to Swissport and AA is much more likely to go there too, especially as Servisair make a pig's ear of every widebody turnaround requiring loading/unloading of containers. Far too few experienced ramp hands for the equipment, and the most capable crews are on the night shift to deal with the containerised ChannEx mail flights.

I reckon there will be a 3rd agent, and it will be easyjet self-handling. Cheesed off with the service from Servisair and Swissport don't want the contract.

The handling at Newcastle is really rather shambolic.

We have first hand experience of Servisair this season. The problem certainly lies in the operations side as HH6702 points out as they employ many inexperienced dispatchers and ramp agents.

Whether the service received will be any better at Swissport is debatable. As regards the pax side at Servisair, we do not have any great complaints but the ramp side really lets them down. Swissport have an excellent ramp side but the pax side is questionable from what I have seen.

it would not surprise me that Ryanair is looking to alternate agents - I noticed an a/c last week waiting 10 minutes for steps!
As for additional handling agents, there is definitely capacity - North East Aviation were a start up business that expanded rapidly and now are Swissport. Maybe easy self handling will be the answer.

Perhaps a new venture in handling may be an option?????

Apparently another mess up on the late GVA last Friday. I hear that although passengers were dispatched (assume in this case must have sorted out buses/steps) in reasonable time, that there was however a further one & a half hours to get the luggage off !
May have been as mooted the aircraft cargo door, or simply due to another gross incompetent & inexperienced individual from Serviceair ?

Ryanair to Verona

Just looking at Ryanair website and notice that Verona has appeared on the dropdown menu from Newcastle. Could this be a fourth destination?

Incidentally, does anyone here know when they will release routes for next May from NCL to BGY?

NO, its because the runway at Bergamo is being repaired and FR flights are being rerouted to Verona.

See also post on this thread dated 19th August.

This link will take you to the CAA Provisional Airport stats or the Provisional International Routes stats, both for July, issued today.

Best viewed in the pdf format as it is much easier to take in.

The Provisional Airport stats show NCL breaking the 5 million pax barrier for the rolling 12 month period to the end of July this year.

I was wondering if anyone had an up to date list of the based a/c @ ncl - especially on the charter side of things.

Thanks very much

TF-ELJ and G-BYAX were there early sunday morning when I arrived back from Sanford onboard G-EOMA. G-MAJA/MAJE Eastern's were there, along with another over near the aero clubs. G-EZJO/EZKD were two EZY's there, along with I think 4 others?

NCLRules . I see that MerchantVenturer gave you the link to the stats. Unfortunately it will be a couple of months before we get to see the domestic route figures on the CAA site. This part of the exercise always seems to take much longer.
