Psychomotor

Seems there are 3 groups. The 8am, 10am and 2pm groups. The lady said each group will consist of 8 guys. So if we do the calculations, only 24 guys from the 19th group have been called. Its my assumption and i don't wish to discourage anyone. So to the 25th group, I hope we all get lucky and be among the 24.

@KenAviator

If what you've written were to be the case, what happened to the same lady's assertion that there's a particular threshold to be met in the Morrisby Profile?!

If the threshold/score truly exists, then there's no limit to the number of successful persons.

Psychomotor Test

Besides LOPA, nickmory, Dexman72 and Flier2463, is there anyone else, whether a PPRuNer or not, that has been invited for the Psychomotor Test scheduled for Tuesday, March 4th?

@Aerodrifter

I remember the lady talking about competing against one's self. But again she also talked about the number in each group. Doing the calculations, only a maximum of 24 will be interviewed per day. But one thing i know is that despite her giving us that idea on competition, at the end of the day there is a benchmark for the test we did. Around 120 of us did the psychometric and definitely that number can't do the psychomotor test assuming we all advance to the next stage.

@KenAviator, indeed not all thd 120 wannabe captains will make it. Nonetheless, what would happen if 60 were to meet the benchmark?!

Alternatives

Congratulations to those who have received the magical call, @Lopa, @Nickmory et al. All the best people.

Now, to the rest who may be unfortunate, who knows of the best flight school in KE where one can kick start the flying dream, and what are the rates up to CPL?

How much would be the rates outside KE? (inclusive boarding and travel, and the length of the course?). Let's think alternatives here. Or is there a thread dedicated to this?

information

hey all, am seeing a lot of speculation as to the exact number of people invited for the psychomotor tests. lets not forget guys that not all of us who are undergoing the program have access to, or are posting on, this site. there are a couple of my pals who have no idea this forum exists yet have been called for the test on fourth at 7:00 am and 10.

the only thing I know for sure is that the people who did psychometrics on 19 are the ones being called. thisI believe is coz the career connections people are done with our results and Kq have selected the ones they want and forwarded their list back .I think it's a long process so let's just be patient.

as to how many will actually get through the process to the end, I think that depends on us...if we all work and meet the requirements of Kq I believe they will have no choice but to take us. then again the reason there are multiple tests is to test multiple dimensions and abilities, and as we all know we can't all possess all the required traits.

Thank you for answering my question (in the 1st post of this page).

I also concur with you 100% on the fact that our progress is contingent upon an interplay of factors, chief among them being God's grace and our individual industry.

All the best to us.

Commencement of 24months count down

When does the 24 months count down start? Did it start when successful guys were called or will it starts once the account is terminated?

There is a guy (probably the youngest going by facial appearance) who we exchanged phone numbers with and hasn't been called. He called me and wanted to know when the countdown begins. Any insights on this because he is ready to withdraw the application and start the countdown.

All the best to those who have been called.

@upsidedown254

It starts exactly two years after the application is reopened to the public.
So, if you got kicked out in 2013, re-apply again come the 2015 intake when its' advertised.

I'm aware of a friend who attempted to beat the system an year later after he failed a stage (Psychomotor, I think) and he got caught at the Psychometrics stage of the 2nd application since his name was not on the new list. Though KQ HR takes time to clean up records on the KQ Career Portal, their internal records remain intact, it seems.

Just to be safe, you may contact HR on this policy.

Thanks for the information. I bet it will be helpful to other people. So in other words, the 24 months is equivalent to ineligibility to sit for at least two ab initio interviews!? Assuming that a single interview is held in a year.

But based on time, the young guy (or maybe another baby faced assassin) will have his other chance in 2016. Going by what KQ did last year, the dateline will be 31st Dec 2016 and interviews scheduled for 2017. Now, FWIW, 2017 is an election year and there will be a lot of madness in the country. I see its better if he moves on with life and forget about KQ completely.

Unfortunately, yes. Thats' what a 24-month window would translate to, factoring in cause and effect.

To these called in for Psychomotor

Hello,

If you passed the Psychometric, there's something I need to ask of you:

Were you able to tackle more than half of the questions in each section, e.g the beards part, maths, the flipped objects(Spatial reasoning?), Mechanical Reasoning,etc?

I ask so as to assess the probability of a pass based on your approximates.

Also, indicate the areas you were most sure about , ie the highest probability of a high score.

@brainy, I went through about two thirds of every section. the thing is I was confident with my answers. then the left hand right hand part, mine were practically the same maybe one more using my right. I wouldn't say that there was a section that I found easier than the rest coz in all the questions got more difficult as you went through.(but I think two thirds was my average coz in the sections with about 60 qs I went through at least 40)

@nickmory

If I remember correctly, the 60-question sections were the flipped object questions and the beards. Hmm. How did u fare in the flipped objects section?

That was probably my worst performed part. Accuracy, mechanical reasoning and grammar were OK,,did more than 70% in these. Matrices? Pretty decent. The math patterns? So-so.

Let's see how it turns out.

@brainy

the beads were fine, the shapes.....that's a different story! that dot in the middle was supposed to help you but it turned out to be a bother in some(it being so close to the middle it was hard to visualize what side the shape was facing)
I would say the part I enjoyed most was the last part, you know the thinking of things on the spot, making up words from two letter, joining lines to make something( u know I actually drew the Nike symbol in one and named it that!!)
I wish you good fortune my friend. as for me, trying to expand my mind in preparation for Tuesday.

Cool, man. I may pass this. Even if its by the skin of my teeth.
Good luck in the Psychomotor. You will ace it.
