Mega Merged: REX Recruitment/Cadetship and Working for REX
Application process
Just wondering if anyone who has recently undergone the application process would be willing to send me a private message with details of the testing and interviewing process.
ie what does the WOMBAT test involve and how long until you receive your results. Who conducts the first and subsequent interviews etc?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Rex DEFO
Great news as I see on pilot career centre that Rex and Qlink opened up today.
How strict are Rex on the 500 twin command for DEFO's. Has any one ever got in with lets say 400 twin command. I understand the whole reason for the 500 is to upgrade the guys quickly to command?
Good Luck to everyone. Hopefully this will open up a few opportunities down the ladder.

I applied not too long ago (the portal for apps has alway been open) with over all the mins including the the 500 multi pic (200 of it night) and haven't heard a thing so i doubt 400 will cut it unfortunately. If you have the ATPL though might be a diff story, I do not
That's a reflection of REX's hiring practices. If they have a failure rate greater of 50% then they should take a long hard look at themselves.
The problem we seem to have these days is companies want to hire a particular type of person who fits the "corporate culture" as opposed to someone who can actually operate the equipment properly.

Nothing to do with hiring practices if someone from "the airlines" can't hand fly a raw data ILS or follow basic SOP's.

A sim ride has nothing to do with assessing a candidate's "professionalism".
It has everything to do with assessing a candidate's manipulative skills and trainability by (usually) placing the candidate in an unfamiliar aircraft for the SIMEX.
An insight into the candidate's "professionalism" is primarily assessed via the interview panel, and to a lesser extent in the sim briefing through interaction between the checkie and the candidate.

Hugh I said it would give them an "idea" of how professional you are. If you flap about in the sim making a mess of it then "professional" probably isn't a way you can describe yourself.

Pilotchute,
I have some experience in this area. Professionalism is an attitude. It is NOT a measure of technical/manipulative skill.
You can have a candidate that has an absolutely fantastic and professional attitude to the job, but that means nothing if they can't fly for ****. Particularly if you give the candidate training input (which is permissible, as that in itself is a means of assessing trainability) and they don't show an improvement in their manipulative skills afterwards.
Professionalism is a state of mind and attitude.
Technical proficiency is a completely different matter.
You can also experience candidates that are great pole men/women, but have a **** attitude to the job.
If they were one and the same, airlines wouldn't do a sim AND interview as separate components requiring the candidate to pass BOTH components prior to being made an offer of employment.

professionalism
prəˈfɛʃ(ə)n(ə)lɪz(ə)m/
noun
1.
the competence or skill expected of a professional.
"the key to quality and efficiency is professionalism"
2.
the practising of an activity, especially a sport, by professional rather than amateur players.
"the trend towards professionalism"
I didn't say don't interview them I just said being **** in the sim would be a fair indicator. According to my mate Google professionalism is all about skill!

So just wondering......do REX even hire anymore? or are they all flush with Cadets and a few Captains that they don't need anyone anymore.
They always seem to have an ad up but I never hear of anyone getting a shot?
Suppose an ATPL would be a requirement?
Just curious, thanks.

It has probably already been covered in here somewhere but i cant find it. How does REX want you to submit your log book/education results for the 2016 cadetship? it says in the FAQ that you can only submit one file per application and its all online. I shot them an email a week ago asking if they want certified copies of certificates and have received nothing back. Any advice on just getting the application (CV, cover letter, log book, education results) would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers all,
Tom

Simple, scan all of the relevant documents and then paste these images into the Word document at the end. Then save the Word document as a PDf and upload this big PDF.

Given applications close in a few weeks for REX 2016, does anyone have any idea how long they take to contact applicants regarding continuing the application process?

Cadet entry
Hi all.. I'm wanting to know a couple of things. Hoping you can help
What is the wombat test like?
With the maths testing after/before interview what sort of questions are asked? I know they ask for 2 unit maths but it's been 20 years since I've done that.
Any the interview... I've heard they asked lots of questions and drill the cadet a bit. What questions are asked?
I have heard they are accepting lots of older people. Maybe the maturity is a positive with the Cadetship.
If you've been there and experienced it I would love to hear from you.
Thanks everyone.
