Wild stab at a Rutan ARES perhaps?

Kerling-Approsh KG 10th Feb 2011 07:30

In haste, could it be a Bede BD-5J?

Noyade 10th Feb 2011 09:34

`makeover`...
I see your point mate - not the original instrumentation? Makes it more difficult? Sorry.

This is a Russian aircraft and I found the image from one of those "walkaround" sites on the web.

I`ll guess it maybe an Su 26,29,or 31,although the nose appears to be more pointed, but maybe lens distortion..

Noyade 10th Feb 2011 18:52

Not a Sukhoi.

Panning back....

Yak 30 perhaps?

Noyade 10th Feb 2011 20:17

Yes it is mate! :ok: Your control.

ίκ-30 • Yak-30 Magnum

Thanks Noyade,

An interesting aircraft...

OPEN HOUSE!

Now for something equally interesting but a bit of a change of format. I couldn't find a photo of the instrument panel, but there is sufficient information on the photograph to enable an educated guess as to the identity of the aeroplane.

Clues: Only two were built. The designer had a well established aeronautical firm construct the airframes.

No idea, but a bit of research led me to the following fascinating site:

Bri is your man in the Gnosspelius Gull?

evansb 13th Feb 2011 05:51

Yes indeed, Noyade.:ok: It is Baxter Ellis at the controls of the 5-hp Blackburne Tomtit powered twin-airscrew Gnosspelius Gull. Taken at Cramlington Aerodrome. Your control.

SincoTC 13th Feb 2011 07:32

Good call Graeme :ok:, nice Challenge Brian!

Regretably, it seems that Baxter Ellis was not long for this world!

From Wiki "The second aircraft was unregistered and was flown at Lympne as No. 19, it crashed at Cramlington on 18 June 1926 killing the pilot"

Noyade 13th Feb 2011 08:30

Thanks Bri!

In a similar vein, maybe?...

Saw that in a book mate from 1996. I'm guessing it never flew? Make an interesting Silhouette Challenge though and it's on the net! :ok: (Shhh...don't tell anyone).

A kitplane Mel?

I'm sure I owned a bicycle that had hand grips similar to those on the joysticks.
