Seem to have gotten off to a half decent start by the looks of things. Been a lot of stuff on Twitter about it today.
And yes, Dash 8 based at CWL for the duration of this operation, was originally meant to be a VLM F50 but we all know what happened there.

Can see some comments and suggestions in the press that the passengers would like this service to continue after the tunnel reopens.....now that would be good but suppose it all comes down to price and the passengers numbers

Not that all of CWL's passengers live in central Cardiff, but then they don't all live in Rhoose or Barry either, but Cardiff Central to CWL, with a check-in that closes at STD -30, then an average block time of 67.5 minutes ... Well it's quicker, more reliable, more comfortable, more convenient and cheaper by train to a London terminus than it is by air.

And it gets even worse because post electrification, and the reason the tunnel is closed is preparatory works for electrification, the journey time by rail will be 15 to 20 minutes faster.

CWL are reporting that they are forecasting significant growth for next year, where this will come from is unknown to us but sounds promising.
The BE base has seemingly surpassed its passenger number targets according to my alter ego on another forum, so could come from them ?
According to Roger Lewis and a post i made on here in the Flybe thread this morning, the WalesOnline article quotes him saying that there may well be more to come from BE not just in the shape of frequencies and routes, but MRO and potential HQ relocation opportunities.

Sorry if I'm the bearer of bad tidings but Cardiff Central to London Paddington is some, a mere, 2 hours and 6 minutes by train.

Why would it be vanity flying?
Even though a quick look at prices for next week suggests it hasn't massively attracted people the way they might have hoped, it was a good idea that showed a level of local knowledge that airlines all too often lack and that is nevertheless set to be a PR success.
That said, it's clearly not a viable long term route against a normal train service operating at really quite a high frequency (even though the trains are often deeply unpleasant) and that is soon to have better connections with the part of London that LCY best serves..

There's been nothing to suggest the Welsh government are subsidising this route. BE took on the route in response to the tunnel closure and just for that time period. There's been a lot of support to keep the route but it's viability once the tunnel reopens has been put into question. The route will attract last minute business bookings, so looking ahead isn't a true reflection. Last minute prices have been over £125 one way CWL-LCY on the AM flight.

You could look at it in the same way as when BE came in with an E195 on NQY-LGW when the railway line was washed away at Dawlish
On the other hand CWL/LCY/CWL has little, if any, history and when the train is quicker it shall never be a commercial success and is just in temporary place because of a specific problem.

When do Flybe release their Summer 2017 schedules ?
I can see other airports schedules have start to be added to their search engine, notably the DSA schedules which go through to August / September 2017 but CWL only goes to March 2017.
Is there some sort of reason for this as I would have expected all schedules to be fully loaded at the same time......
Are there some additional flights and destinations planned for CWL hence the delay in publishing ?
Anyone know or have any comments on this ?

According to interview with Roger Lewis on BBC Wales Ryanair will increase TFS, a new route to FAO and Greece in 2017, although no specifics as to where in Greece. Great news!
