Thank you. Much appreciated. Probably not perfect but it does look appealing.

Not a chance mainline will allow that to happen, no benefit to the pilot body only to those who joined somewhere else and now want something they are not entitled too.

It’s complete nonsense that BACF is treated any differently to LHR or LGW. Long gone are the days where it was a separate entity flying j32 from the regions, ever since BACF was spun out of BA connect it has been part of the BA operation in just the same way LGW is. |
I think it is implied they join the MSL in accordance with their respective individual DOJ, meaning a 2015 BACF joiner would jump a 2019 BA joiner, hence the negative response.
When people joined EF they were told they'd be joining the mainline MSL. When people joined BACF, they were told they will not be joining the MSL. I think therein lies the difference. Many would have joined BACF a long time ago had they been offering a place on the MSL (myself included) so that won't go down very well. Having said that, if there was ever a proposal they all join the bottom of the MSL I don't think there would be much backlash. Perhaps some may argue they have not gone through a mainline assessment (which EF do). There was some backlash against DHL secondments skipping a step of the assessment, but that all went quiet. |
Out of interest what is the earliest DOJ at CF?
Brymon 1970? Manx 1982 ish or are all based upon the inception of CF mk 2 ? |
During the covid compulsory redundancies their length of service had to be taken into account. If I remember correctly this led to out of MSL seniority redundancies. So there may be more to it than meets the eye.
By the way nobody implied them joining the MSL in the way you described. Dig deeper and you may learn more. |

Imagine you are in the holding pool to join BA either at Gatwick or Mainline. Your mate joins on Monday and you’re due to start on Wednesday - just two days later. On Tuesday, all of the BACF pilots join the bottom of the BA seniority list. Unless BA pilots or BA are getting something worthwhile, I highly doubt it will even be discussed.

Yes, but something was gained by BA pilots too. In fact we even found 30m in cost savings in order to convince BA to fly the slots within BA mainline. Crazy, because I cannot believe BA would have changed their plans for the sake of such a sum, but it shows how much BALPA felt the pilots were gaining from the deal.
|
When I was involved in this subject some years ago the proposal was the BACF would drop on to the bottom of the seniority list. Also, mainline BALPA were broadly in favour at the time. I moved away from the BA group and so I have little knowledge of what took place after that however.
as regards Covid redundancies, date of joining the group was the legally enforceable method of selection. Originally BA proposed MSL but it was pointed out that this was not compliant and so it was changed. |

Pretty much what happened with BMI, plus the person meant join on Wednesday would start over 2 years later on a different pay scale.
To leave it unaddressed gives your statement a whiff of trolling to me. I don’t know if graduates from the Speedbird Academy posted to CF get a ghost place on the MSL but it would seem fair if they did. Maybe DE to CF should too. |
Have any Speedbird graduates gone to city flyer?

i do not know if it’s happened or not. It would seem unfair for someone to be posted to LCY CF then months later someone is posted to EF or BA who would be on the MSL. Career opportunities based purely on the timing of graduation is somewhat random. A position on the MSL would negate that. |
I don’t believe any SPA grads have ended up at Cityflyer, could be wrong.
And anyway some of these Princess's got miffed at being ‘only’ offered LGW…surely a cause for extreme miffyness if they ended up LCY. |

Hi, I am currently 16 and doing GCSES and will stop at nothing to become an airline pilot. It is my dream and something that I am completely sure of. MY parents are willing to pay, but I don't want to put this on them, especially since they are so near to retiring. Does anyone have any tips about what I can do between now and my A-Levels to help me secure a place?
