I thought the first rule of ‘flight’ club was we don’t talk about ‘flight’ club? 👀😂

Good point though.

If you book your hotels via hotlines, there is an £8 per person fee you can pay which enables last minute cancellation in the event you don’t make it onboard.

Hi everyone,

I was recently successful at the sim assessment, offered SH and put in the 320 pool. Does anyone have an idea on how long the pool is at the moment?

Thanks

traytabledriver 6th October 2025 20:22

~4 months depending on notice period

Currently excluding, so anticipate 6-7 months from successful to start date. Probably reducing now as DEP recruitment is open on the 320 again

When I applied, I have read all the pages on the BA and BAEF. The interview process that is described on these pages closely matches to what I saw on the day.

Given how pretty much everyone in BA made a conscious decision to go out of their way and apply, mostly due to some desire to “serve”, it waters down that value. The assessment wasn’t a joke and most went to great efforts in writing those essays.

I see the reps are trying to play it down as simply people being free to apply as they always were. If that’s the case and there’s nothing to see here, then what is the “deal” exactly, why are specific newsletters about it going out to pilots of DHL and how has a deal been struck yet simultaneously no change?

This reminds me of the second officer announcement .. paraphrased as “it’s gonna be different so we had to inform you, but don’t worry there’s no difference”..

Just as when BALPA were in talks to allow Iberia FOs to take up their commands at BA LGW and Iberia would supplement their pay against the shortfall vs what paid their BA Captains. Very quickly there were denials, and smoke and mirrors and then a backtrack. It all surfaced after the SEPLA memo was made public before BALPA had the courtesy to let their members know about the plan…

Question for those that have joined BA recently- do they make any effort to accommodate pre-booked leave where possible? Or is it just a case of you can bid for leave/swaps like everyone else and hope for the best? Trying to be realistic and assume the latter, but would be keen to hear if anyone had any luck getting dates approved for something like a wedding or family event.

Cheers

P.S. for those asking about hold pool times, I've been swimming for over 6 months now and still waiting for the call (320 LHR). Heard of someone getting a Feb start date recently but they'd been in the hold pool since November last year.

As far as I know it's the latter. When I found out I was in the hold pool I asked them to give me a start date after date X, so that I could still have the time off I'd had approved without any hassle.

At Waterside the lady running the day told us to let them know as soon as possible, as leave cannot be taken in training and cannot be guaranteed after you're on the line. I'm reliably informed, however, that it's a level playing field. So who knows if you'll manage to luck out and get what you need

They have this PPT presentation on the interview day where they answered someone’s question on that. To be honest the answer was vague. It was something like we will try our best but you have to understand we can’t guarantee and not obliged. With the emphasis that initial training time is definitely a no no for the holidays.

Ouch that’s a long time! Hopefully they start to reduce but then to do have the Speedbird entries to deal with as well.

Thanks for the replies. I do vaguely remember it being mentioned at the presentation, but couldn't remember exactly what was said.

Willtofly 13th October 2025 10:55

BA DEP Roadshow

Hello

Has anyone attended the Abu Dhabi roadshow lately and what topics used for Group exercise?

Aside from Flight Capacity test will there be any further pilapt tests for experienced candidates?

Cheers

What’s life like on the A350? I’ve been told that there’s a lot of characters who may be hard to work with on the fleet?
