I'm EASA A330 rated. From EZ recruitment website :

A330/40 Captains will complete a self-funded CCQ with our preferred training provider (CAE) prior to easyJet employment

So they don't consider me as rated, as I'm still required to shell out for the CCQ?

Anyone have any idea how much this is ?

Last time I looked at EZ (it was over 2 years ago) , they didn't mention having to pay for a CCQ, just considered the A330 as rated. Or did I miss something?!

A330 to A320 CCQ is in the region of 5K Sterling.

Thanks for that. Plenty of Ex WOW A330 guys applying to EZ will be willing to pay this now.

Also - Is it possible for someone from the UK to join straight into a french base / french contract? Or do you have to be based in the UK initially and then shift across via the internal transfer list?

dirk85 21st December 2018 11:07

You can be based from the beginning anywhere they need, Germany, Italy, France...

Could any LGW Skippers share their monthly gross salary and in particular the sector pay? Thanks.

Gross salary available on PPJN, sector pay usually £1,000 to £1,800ish depending on how busy you are. This also depends on what you bid for ie 4 or 2 sector days. Plenty of people are keen to swap off extra long duties so if you are looking to bump your salary up by a few hundred per month you can do that reasonable easily.

For an experienced airbus F/O, roughly how long is the process to command at LGW?
Thanks.

You need roughly 1 year to start the process, which is pretty long itself.

Any NTR DEC for LGW/LTN had a call for a 2019 course yet?

Reversethrustset 8th January 2019 20:01

737 jockey, I'll send you a pm in about ten minutes

VJW 8th January 2019 20:20

Ive a mate who passed end of March last year for LGW/LTN NTR DEC....he's still waiting.. If you can PM me any info to pass on that'd be good.

UberPilot 8th January 2019 21:42

Regarding DECs, there are 148 commands available this training year. DEC will only be used where there is no internal upgrade to available and willing to fill the space. Hence Portugal normally attracts more DEC than internal... LGW and LTN are not massively undersubscribed and there is a reserve list of command ready FOs already.

I’m sure that’s all correct. However unless I’m mistaken easy were recruiting NTR DEC’s until pretty late in the year. They also probably knew (or at least a fairly accurate best guess) the number of commands needed in 2019. Seems strange to think that someone who passed in March last year who is still swimming while recruitment continued for at least 6 more months, could potentially sink in the pool. I can’t see that occurring surely.

Keen to know what the score is for NTR FOs too. Swimming since March.

My understanding is that like the internal reserve list, there is also always a pool of suitably qualified and selected DECs available to fill any positions that cannot otherwise be filled. I would suspect this is more likely concur towards the end of the training year (June). The fact that someone has been waiting almost a year suggests that both there are enough internal FOs to cover these bases. If the applicant said they’d consider Portugal I’m prett sure that they’d get a phone call this afternoon...

Not to mention with the demise of A320 operating airlines like Small Planet there is now quite a glut of rated applicants available, and of course bottom feeders like Germania always crank out new ones with the required hours anyway.

True, but they still have to pass the selection and from what I’m hearing surprisingly many “qualified” guys and gals are being turned down.

I heard the same with a fair few Air Berlin and Monarch...

Good evening, I can see that quite a few people have emailed me regarding info on Portugal however I have a mail inbox of 1 so i never see the other messages. Anyone shed light on that?

In answer to some questions I have seen, this year in Portugal we will have options for 5-4 and part time. There is no commuting roster although quite a few people commute for family and tax purposes.

The contract is good, a Captain in Portugal can typically gross anywhere between 150-160000 Euros per year excluding loyalty bonus. Whatever net you receive all comes down to where you live, whether you have children and if married, whether your wife/husband works.

Commuting to Spain can see a dramatic reduction in income tax. Paternity rights, sick pay and pension are excellent however to receive any pension in Portugal would mean you have to work and pay Social Security for a minimum of 15 years. At the moment the Pension pays out the equivalent of 70-80% of salary for the rest of your life although who knows for the future. I do apologise to anyone who has emailed and I haven´t responded but I am clueless as to how to get a bigger box.
