Hi Guys
I did not make the dates for an application for the current Easyjet recruitment.
However
I have filed an application for Easyjet Swiss some months ago,as an SFO having more than 6000 Total Jet time and 1000 on the bus . When I login to that, It seems like it is a general application for easyjet as it provides for selection of all Easyjet bases not only the Swiss ones.
Do you think that I may have chance for my cv being available and eligible for the current recruitment?
Any info for an email address to question the recruitment office?

Doug the Head - NSF is known personally to many here and I spoke to him recently myself. From what i understand he no longer participates on here due to the awkwardness of his identity being known so widely, coupled to his incessant interactions with the numpty element, with whom there is no dealing. In the end I think he just got worn out talking to the Flat Earth Society all the time. I personally found his contributions quite insightful and see his departure a a loss - but maybe that is just me.

Anyway, as we are all doomed to be stuck here, pray enlighten us with the name of, say, three airlines in the world, who are not national carriers, but which are so much better to work for than easyJet. Being a somewhat less informed individual with more limited imagination, I am struggling to think of any, so please do share. Maybe it is not to late to get my application in - you never know, they might rescue you too.

Ow please Alexander, if you're looking for a new job then do your own research! :p One hint: look past the shiny 4 stripes DEC jobs, chasing those jobs is all same !!!! different name, something you've probably been doing for your entire career and which is why you are stuck and unable to fathom that there are even real career companies out there. :8

Rescue? What do you mean? ;)

stakeknife 7th October 2011 08:34

For any of you who are interested in EZY my experience of being here 10 years is generally very positive. This is not my first airline and I turned down BA just after joining here and haven't regretted it. I am in the UK regions and find the fixed roster, pay and time off very good. I cannot see any other job which would suit me better and I genuinely enjoy the flying that we do. I guess it is not for everybody but some of the negative comments on here really do surprise me and all I can say is that those comments do not reflect the vast majority of people I work with. There is no doubt BA is a great company and I have friends there who love it and those that don't. For me, I wouldn't swap my job for BA not because EZY is perfect but because it offers me a good home lifestyle with good pay! It's swings and roundabouts and we have to respect peoples choices without descending into a slagging match!

Good luck to all :ok:

bringbackthe80s 7th October 2011 08:50

Yesterday I was obviously very bored and had the awful idea of turning the TV on, first thing I saw was a report about riots in Greece from government employees who had their salary cut to 95 eur a month (ninetyfive). These were the lucky ones, because the vast majority of the people they interviewed were out of job and with a couple of kids to feed.

Now let's for a second look at what a First Officer (say in continental Europe) gets every month at EZY: job security, permanent contract (yes, after a while nowadays), fixed pattern, a LOT of money, possibility to upgrade if he/she is good enough (and willing to move around Europe), too many sectors on some months but way too few in some others! one and half month vacations per year (joining them to the normal days off), some random roster months (but at least you have a break on the 5 earlies in a row-if you are lucky!), pension, loss of licence insurance, free shares every once in a while, a very good airline to have on your CV (just in case you need it in the future!) and probably a lot of other stuff (positive and negative) I forgot.

All of this just to say that I honestly got a bit bored of reading all the nonsense some people write on here. Get real and have a look at the world around you before complaining of the alarm going off too early.
BA,AF,LH are all great companies but a job is a job and a plane is a plane. And try to wake up because the world is not what it was in the 70s and 80s anymore, face it.

Could someone PLEASE tell me if any of the applicants via the DIRECT ENTRY SCHEME ONLY (not Parc etc etc) have been invited to interview yet?
Out of interest (I do not meet the requirements i.e. 320-rated and/or not have enough cash in my pockets to pay 4 it) but can I ask you how did you apply DIRECTLY?

I have missed most of the discussion here and I am not willing to read 100s of comments on how great/terrible life in orange can be but rather find out whether once the TR-hire drive is over there will be a chance for the "untouchable" like myself...:E

BlackandBrown 7th October 2011 10:20

What are we? Your humble servants? Read it or don't, see if anyone cares.

The key to the BA/ EZY debate is to do what's right for you, not what's right for others, blindly following- and to my mind many, many people are blindly going to BA because they think they want long haul ( why exactly?) and they think a long and varied career will be guaranteed ( this is a different, unpredictable future we are headed in to - past BA is very probably not future BA).

And can I ask FLR, what does your BA 'chat' have to do with EZY selection? It's rather hypocritical for you to post like you have after 'telling mummy' on me for comparing the two companies on the BA thread. How very 'labour party' of you.

Craggenmore 7th October 2011 13:53

By and large I had a good time at easyJet. The training is very good as were my LGW colleagues but after 5 years of the low cost model it was time to move.

And as I post this from nightstopping in beautiful sunny South Africa, apart from my colleagues, I really can't think of anything that I miss.

People say that you should experience things at least once in life so to all the applicants - Good Luck..!

Full Left Rudder 7th October 2011 15:49

I think the general balance of posts on this thread gives a fair insight into easy life.

Sorry BlackandBrown if you don't like my posting but I am only trying to help people see both sides of the story at easy before choosing to make the move from what might be equally as good jobs elsewhere. I was both positive and negative in my posts. I am not sure the same could be said for your posts on the BA thread which, as was suggested by many, have a somewhat bitter undertone.

Back to more useful info -

Having painstakingly analysed years worth of BA rosters from friends before making the move from easy to BA I found the following -

The average working day on SH is over an hour less at BA than at easy.

Yes there are 4 sector days but not that many, and they are double LHR-MAN types. Hardly the 4 sector slogs at easy.

As has been said, the sea of change over the last year has been excellent at easy and definitely makes life there more enjoyable. However, for me personally, the underlying business model of high crew utilisation was one of the reasons I had to move on.

Good luck to all applying.

FANS 7th October 2011 16:35

Bring back NSF!

BlackandBrown 7th October 2011 21:32

Having painstakingly analysed years worth of BA rosters from friends before making the move from easy to BA I found the following -
It's irrelevant mate, as I said, the past with BA isn't the future. They are being very 'dynamic' and very 'inorganic' at the moment and the economy is unlike any before so it would be unfair to compare the two. At least one knows where one stands with easyJet.

You have made your decision, I have made mine. As Steve Jobs said, only looking back can we join the dots.

veetwo 7th October 2011 22:11

B&B

Do you really believe the present at easyjet = the future at easyjet?! Surely you can't be that short sighted. It was only 2 years ago that they were trying to take away the crew tea and coffee.

Everywhere will change in the future. Nothing stays the same forever.

ElitePilot 8th October 2011 00:06

Lol so if EZ take away the tea and coffee in two years time is it a "no go" airline? :) (sorry couldn't resist).
In my opionion BA will be changing in the not so far off future alot more than EZ in these tough economic and cost saving times.

Full Left Rudder 8th October 2011 00:32

Who knows what will change the most. But Easyjet will definitely change. McCall is being very clear and open about that already, whereas the BA management are keen to keep things largely as they are (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/transport/8785035/Keith-Williams-has-steered-British-Airways-through-some-tough-turbulence.html)

What's more, McCall is actively trying to position Easyjet somewhere in the middle between low cost carriers and national carriers. Something not really achieved by anyone to date. If successful it will no doubt be very successful, but untried water in this industry is always risky. If it doesn't work then what......? Of course BA may change too, but of the two airlines Easyjet shows the most sign of changing at the moment for sure.

Also, BA has a strong union backed rostering policy that will take some fighting. That will undoubtedly slow down any change, even if it doesn't resist it.

Hi America...

In my personal opinion I don't think there will be calls for an interview anytime soon!I think that EZY team is still figuring out if they need pilots, how many of them and when.If i am not wrong Virgin atlantic still has to call people who passed the selection,Ba the same. All EZY guys/gals who applied are still there. The uncertainty of the economic picture, fastjet etc are issues that need attention. Before hiring people with a permanent contract they want to be 100%sure of it.Maybe they just wanted to see how many pilots they were able to find in case of a huge exodus...Why spending money to screen people you don't need at the moment.
That's my 2 cents

superced 8th October 2011 17:38

one of the best decision of my life was to leave this Europe UK flag carrier : a nightmare.

Reference NSF I used to enjoy his contributions to the Forum.

BlackandBrown 9th October 2011 10:15

Veetwo, one smartarse person was trying to take away tea or coffee - He decided to try and destroy lives for his own benefit in a disgustingly greedy way. He was authorised to do so by that other incompetent imbecile that is no longer with easyJet. It wasn't easyJets fault, the company was as much a victim.

Craggenmore 9th October 2011 12:15

Reference NSF I used to enjoy his contributions to the Forum
....and in the flight deck..!

BlackandBrown means the; "Let's get rich quick, Andy and Cor Show".

That tea and coffee stunt cost the company £400,000 in extra fuel being taken out of protest. Cue emails from the 'top' saying, "sorry, get the point."

I'm Off! 9th October 2011 14:55

NSF

Used to be a very useful source of information on this forum, and of course some people didn't always like to hear the truth. His insight and information is missed...

McBruce 9th October 2011 16:37

What happened to NSF? I'm not EZY but used to value his views and expressions over the current climate within orangeville.

Alexander de Meerkat 9th October 2011 16:56

I am sure NSF will be touched by all your kind thoughts, but from what I understand he will not be returning any time soon.

Yes, superced, we know you hated easyJet as it was a terrible company etc, but like Doug the Head it is all a bit short on detail and long on ranting. I note your mate Doug has been unable to name a single airline on the planet that is not a national carrier which is better than easyJet - maybe that tells you something. I thought he may opt for Southwest Airlines, but apparently not. I have significant sympathy for the reasons that Craggenmore and others left easyJet - they like life in the desert, fly great aircraft all around the world and have adapted well to their new culture. It is not something that would do a lot for me, but it has brought career fulfilment to many ex-pats and if it works for you and your family then that is great - go for it. My point is that easyJet has been both a career airline for some, myself included, and for others it has been a gateway of opportunity to a world previously closed to them. Either way, it is a great place to be, and I can heartily recommend it.

superced 10th October 2011 11:44

aie...

A low cost airline is not a career airline. and never it will be . :bored:

:=

PS: Don't save money for your retirement ... it won't be useful ( never you will reach the retirement age with this kind of working conditions ) . a career airlines :ugh::ugh:

Adios. ( last shot )

BitMoreRightRudder 10th October 2011 12:57

The Meerkat's last couple of sentences hit the nail on the head. I spent 5 years working for Easy, not without the usual frustrations that all airline pilots will be familiar with, but overall I enjoyed my time there. Leaving was a really hard decision and was driven purely by a desire to try long haul and being just about young enough to join the bottom of a seniority list and start all over again. Some people will find things to moan about wherever they work, the simple truth is that easyjet is becoming an airline that does offer a viable and sustainable career/lifestyle, and the past year has seen some great improvements. Secure job, great crew and a friendly, relaxed working environment - not many airlines tick all those boxes.

Good post, although I would say that the I'm still trying to find out what are the improvement that you are referring to... I do realize our operation has somewhat improved from what could be described as dreadful to something more respectable... but that's not exactly a lifestyle improvement per se... it was just vital to our operation as another 2010 summer chaos this year would surely have put the company itself in jeopardy.

Sustainable lifestyle? Over 30 years or more - certainly not. Personnaly I will not kid myself into thinking I will retire after nearly 40 years of eJ...however for now and until things improve in the big world out there...it isn't such a bad place to be.

Guys and gals:

Although I´m not posting usually, I read every single comment on this thread, coz I´m gonna be part of the orange community from early 2012 :ok:.

All I want to say is that everyone has his/her own priorities, and the "dream work" it´s far from exist. Honestly, I think that EZY offers a good package regarding wages/roster/basing and so on. If you dont agree, just open your eyes, and take a look to other european operators...you´ll be surprised :{.

Join EZY is gonna be a big step in my career; I´m truly motivated and looking ahead for this 2012. :ok:. Thank´s Easy for giving me this chance :ok:.

There is obviously no English test as part of the selection process at Easy then :)

Bealzebub 10th October 2011 23:29

That is a bit harsh.

The posters history would suggest they are probably Spanish, or that is their first language. Their use of spelling and punctuation is actually excellent if English is a second language. In fact it is much better than average from many posters for whom English is their mother tongue and clearly only tongue.

Forgiving the use of "coz," I can see why they would be successful if the rest of their abilities where as accomplished as their use of English.

Well done IAEdude, enjoy your time at Easy!

I was merely making a sarcastic comment. It was obviously a poor attempt at humour that failed.

My talent must be outweighed indeed, coz I is arrogant.

Enjoy your time at Easy. Where are you going to be based?

babotika 11th October 2011 18:05

eJ is percieved quite differently depending on which country one is in. For most UK pilots it's a distinctly average place to be, and there are better places to go - which is what many do.

Look at it from a Spanish/Italian/French point of view and it is a very very very good deal indeed. The mainland contracts are realistically comparable to other major carriers in the country and even much better than some of the local offerings. Add to that the security of working for a huge company that has been consistantly making money, decent base morale, very good command prospects and it's no surprise they are more excited than someone with similar experience from the UK.

Alexander de Meerkat 11th October 2011 23:52

I think that babotika's take on the easyJet deal on mainland Europe is completely correct. However, I also think that for many pilots in the UK, easyJet is not an average airline. I fully accept that current BA pilots would be unlikely to come here, but if I was at Thomas Cook right now I would be biting easyJet's hand off to come here. Just out of interest, how many airlines in the world can offer 93 different destinations from one base, as is the case at Gatwick? It is not all bad, and many people really enjoy it.

Jimbo124 12th October 2011 08:02

Hi,

Does anyone have any confirmation of this? I applied for the DEP from the EZY website, but as Aviator3200 says I cannot risk leaving a safe job and quit for a contract.

I know that Parc are recruiting for EZY, but the criteria are different so I have assumed that the normal recruitment is going to continue?

Many thanks
