"There is a seniority list in Norwegian, we are on it"

Norwegian has no obligation to follow any seniority list with respect to contractors. The agency employment contract does not contain a seniority clause with the lessee airline, Norwegian.

Irrespective of your eligibility and any training payment, as a contractor you have no recourse whatsoever should Norwegian not offer you the opportunity to upgrade.

If you are looking for something to work out, try working out the length of a Kjos "transitional period", after which you are offered direct employment with a company in the Norwegian Group - ref Kjos letter to DoT, June 1, 2015.

Relief captain to LGW

Hi ,
Anyone CAN tell me How much tax do we have to paye in UK for a non UK tax resident based on a salary of 5800£ for relief capt .
Can we have a claim back on the UK tax paid against a europeen country that have an agreement With UK .
Thanks for the answer

The Crew 8th Dec 2015 13:40

If you apply , pass the online stuff, and are invited for assessment, they will send you full details of the none uk resident tax situation. Basically you will pay tax on a percentage of salary earnt. So say 30%of your basic is then taxed at 25% or something along those lines.

triple_2 8th Dec 2015 15:38

Would they be quick with upgrading a guy to relief captain if he has more than 5000 hours a320 but no pic and no wide body hours?

Having done online tests a couple of months ago I've heard nothing since. Does anyone know how the internal process works and if I should merrily move on?

Avenger 9th Dec 2015 07:23

The Crew, actually that's not correct, the amount of UK tax you will pay depends on your country of residence, if a DTA exists and how the UK see your tax status:

https://www.gov.uk/tax-uk-income-live-abroad/overview

You will normally always be stopped your NI in the UK as this is paid by the employer and the employee, social security benefits can usually be transferred to your country of residence.

In the UK if you are a " tax payer" the UK HMRC will give you a tax code which allows for a tax free amount. If you are non resident you will not get this allowance.

https://www.gov.uk/tax-uk-income-liv...ad/taxed-twice

You can contact the UK HMRC helpline, as for the " non-resident" section and they will clear the fog.. +44 135 535 9022

Does anyone have any info about B737 recruitment in Norwegian?

negativeclimb 11th Dec 2015 17:01

So, seems that the process is ongoing. I have received an email that sounded like "be patient and wait". The screenings are spreaded along the whole coming year, but no chance to have exact dates or periods. I guess how people can organize their roster, their days off in order to participate to the selection.
Is not like Ryanair that catches unemployed students and call them also for the day after, here there is people who lives in all over the world and they needs infos in advance to move back to Europe.

Btw wait and be patient. There is really nothing to do.

You are perhaps overly generous in your justification . . . . "disorganised" may be the simpler less palatable explanation.

You rock 11th Dec 2015 22:21

Hi guys.

Can someone that has any idea give a realistic time too upgrade from relief captain.

Also what would be the net salary if you don't live in the uk.

Best regards too all

Hi all,

Just for curiosity, is commuting possible at NLH?

Thanks.

Boeing operator 12th Dec 2015 11:20

@You rock,

I believe it takes longer now for new-joiners than it took the first two years until today. We have pilots that started as FO that have already upgraded to RCA and now upgrade to CPT. This is possible because there is a seniority system, and Norwegian is following it. No exception.

My guess, if you join now as RCA, is that it will take at least three years. But I can be wrong. Can be less. Upgrade is strictly based on seniority, and for internal CPT upgrade you'll need 6000 hours of which 1000 on wide body. Until now, about 50% of all pilots that can upgrade (i.e. all FO and RCA) have already upgraded. Norwegian takes good care of their pilots in that sense. Well, that's what I believe anyway. Other operators stop upgrades and only take direct entries. Norwegian on B787 fleet has minimized direct entries on behalf of internal upgrades.

If you're LGW based expected to be bounced out of Scandinavia for up to two weeks so they don't have to give you home base days off. This might change as more 787s go onto the UK register.
The S2 ticket system on Norwegian is very good .. the rostering is awful.
I don't think any Norwegian 787 pilot would argue with that!

You rock 12th Dec 2015 13:50

Thanks fellas.

All I really need to know if I was firstly successful getting a job and secondly being based in lgw. How many days could one expect at home say in Italy.

Lastly how much would it cost me inclusive of hotac prior too flights and standby travel to get home.

Xmas is approaching wishing everyone all the best

Any of you know what is to be expected at the assessment in Oslo?

My apologies. I should have searched before posting. I found the information as soon as I started looking for it.

Thanks Avenger.

So the contract is the pilot is the employee of UK crewing, An agency set up by Rishworth. Itself n agency.
The employer ( UK rewing) then contracts the pilot out to the "client" , who not Norwegian but Norwegian Singapore Private Ltd .
Good luck !
