Hold pool

What’s the current approx time people are spending in the pool atm? I have heard of people being offered a start date in a few days, but I have been swimming for almost a month

if you’re rated on type they get you in quite quickly, non type rated is around 3-4 months due to training capacity issues I believe.

Congratulations!

A question to you and/or anyone who has passed the sim. Do they tell you over the call/email that you were considered suitable for long-haul in your sim assessment or they don’t mention it?

I have asked one recruiter who said they are making long haul offers to some people who applied to 320, as they were considered suitable.

You can turn down one call for a course, easier to decide if you know where you stand, interested to know if they shared that info.

Any thoughts?

Raph, there is a suitability for long haul commensurate with your total hours circa 1500.
You should receive result between two to seven days dependent on the day of the week you are in the sim.
Remember your date of joining is forever and you will always be senior to the person whose date of joining is later than yours..
Especially when they are planning on uptake of 300 next year.

Right, I was under the impression that even with the hours they would look at certain aspects of your ability in order to decide that. I’m over that hours threshold on type and have been offered Long-haul elsewhere. So in all honesty, I’m going through the process but looking only to take a long-haul offer should I be successful(it’s what I applied for anyway). Asking because there was a note saying that albeit you were applying for the long-haul fleet, their main recruitment feed was into A320, and should there not be vacancies at that time, you would be offered that. The issue is, to fly short-haul I might as-well stay where I am as the money is the same, and I fly less hours.

Many thanks for your input.

You're correct - during the sim your suitability for LH is determined based on your performance.

It says there are short haul opportunities for those with <1500hrs (non A320) at both Heathrow and Gatwick. When you go to apply though, the only short haul option appears to be for Euroflier at Gatwick. Are they hiring <1500hrs for short haul at Heathrow? I've got ~1000hrs CS-25, non A320

Take a look at the lifestyle ,roster patterns and commuting before jumping in with both feet. There are viable alternatives to BA even if they don’t pay as much.

I believe, although I may be incorrect. If you don't have a full ATPL then you wont get a long haul fleet assigned. You need the ATPL for long-haul as BA doesn't use 2nd officers.

Pretty much correct. You don’t actually need the ATPL as long as you have the hours for it, as you can then do the skills test during the type rating.

Hi guys, does anyone know the process as an EASA licence holder, does it make sense to convert the licence and try the selection with BA?

Am hearing that a number of 320 First Officers en masse have recently resigned and are joining EasyJet citing the brutal BA training departments conduct
