British Airways Direct Entry Pilot
Thanks for the information. So one would join FT, have the option to bid for part time but ultimately probably not get it whilst there’s still a shortage on that fleet?
Is there still the option for LH commuters to do back to back trips to allow for more days off in a row and if so is that something that can be bid for or has to be engineered with swaps?
Also intrigued that LOS is so unpopular. No jetlag is a rare treat in the LH world. What are the equivalent destinations that one would end up on at the junior end of the 787 fleet?

2. Yes you can engineer back to back flights in normal bidding and with swaps. Commuters commonly do this. Lagos is a favorite as the small time change means you can fly again the following day.
3. Lagos comes with a night flight home (so no jetlag but it's a long night of work). It's also relatively low "credit" meaning you need more of them to get in your month's work.
4. Not 787 so not quite sure, but I'm guessing BWI IAH YUL EWR PIT TLV fall down towards the bottom of the pile

Is anyone able to share approx annual gross pay for a junior LH pilot at BA given an average amount of flying? I guess it’s not particularly clear cut as most current LH guys will be minimum year 5-6 on the pay scale as opposed to year 1.

Credit is an important concept to grasp in BA. The longer the flight, the more credit the trip attracts. Given that each month you need to hit the credit target (or have enough bank to cover the deficit) that makes shorter trips fairly unpopular. Few people - perhaps except those with specific reasons (upcoming command, friends & family downroute etc) would bid for stuff like EWR/YUL etc out of choice. You’d just be choosing to do more days at work for no additional credit.

Would anyone be willing to drop me a PM with information on the new format for recruitment. I've been invited for the initial online interview, and not sure what to expect. Any information would be very appreciated.
Thank you!
Thank you!
