Friend of mine, a german professor, ran a little guesthouse in Cappadocia. Even he is married with a local and speaks the language, neighbours and the local city government took every opportunity to put sPokes in his wheel. Finally he gave up after ten years of hard work.
IMHO turkey is a nice place for holliday but not for a foreigner to work.
I therefore will not apply.

Correct, until its boss decides he s got enough crews and starts opening his filthy mouth how useless bunch of c we all are and cuts our wages by two without blinking an eye.
No thanks.
De Facto your the master!! How about if THY suddenly changes requirement and you suddenly accept only EASA license, or what if THY tells you something at interview and it is than completely different when you join. How about agencies giving you a certain agreement and than having to find out just the day you sign you contract , when you already had resigned your job, you have to pay a type rating out of your pockets or about Turkish authorities putting quotas on foreign pilots. What about blatantly lying about commuting that does not exists, salary which are pumped with productivity pay factored in. Oh wait ..this is not hypothetical you actually did all this No worries..everything has been duly noted and archived for future use..but how do you even dare?

You are funny pork...actually you are truely pathetic.
To the question if I would recommend someone to join THY as a Captain,my answer would be :it depends..shorthaul a straight no.
Would i recommend an fo to join Thy,I would say no.
To the question would I recommend a captain joining ryan air,i would definitively no unless you dont care who you represent.
To an fo asking whether to joing Ryan air ir not..i would say yes,get good training, avoid retards like you,and ince a captain get your ass out and save your soul.

Is that clear to you?
Oh and thanks letting us know in an earlier post how bitter you were you had ro leave THY..we had not realised it by now.
Hope your wife if married never divorces you, wait hang on,better she does, could make a great drama...love those movies...

De Facto let me explain. When I joined THY with one of the very first "yabanci" groups I was enthusiastic. It could have been the best job in Europe..well nearby. Unfortunately the reality proved way different..no tickets no way to go home, unpaid salaries a complete organizational disaster. I stayed until I had to but at the first good occasion . There have been a few improvement I heard but nothing close to make me regret having left and now enjoying my life one hour from home and my fixed roster, a more "logical " environment and face it, higher salary. Still the bitterness is there..it could have been the best job around ...unfortunately ..its THY.
So you finally came to the conclusion that working threr is only good for a pre-retired guy on long haul fleet..better on 777 and we fully agree on that so what have we been discussing about ?

Pork,
I think i have been consistent in saying that your hatred rethoric is not welcomed regardless your emotional suffering of thinking THY could have been THE job.
Sometimes emotions are best put aside,it brings clarity and sound judgement.
Concerning THY being the best gig around, answer would be no.Airlines policies change as their needs change...THY with the letting go of non EASA licence holders is a bad thing obviously but hard to believe any airline would put a hold to their request of joining EASA for a couple of ICAO licence holders.
I remember ryan air giving one year to get a JAR licence or face the door...go figure how many got the boot after serving the airline for a year.
Lets face it,at least We dont see THY flying around with slogan saying "bye bye air italia" or other financially troubled airlines...again i would never set fiot in such aircraft....ethics.

Everyone knows Turkish is a third world airline with third world safety standards. They need foreign pilots to keep the accident rate down and to fly into destinations that TK management concede are too difficult for Turks to go to. They banned their own Turkish pilots from flying into Katmandhu for months and look what happened within weeks of them lifting the ban. If they want foreign pilots then they need to pay foreign pilot rates and in real, hard currencies. Otherwise all those shiny new jets will just sit on the ground in Istanbul.

Mr pop we had better avoid Qatar and Emitites as well in this case given the numbers of Turkish pilots moving there in the next few months. Can you really imagine it an Aussi FO with a Turk Skipper or even an Indian Captain with an English FO, holy Christ we are all doomed! The day I turned my hat with To Fly to Serve into a bird bath was so liberating of course I had to keep the Fsp out of principle but it's ironic that the orange suits given at Prestwick all those years ago should become such an Fashion Icon

Talking to a Sun Express Pilot the other day, and he was saying he is paid in Euros (converted to TL at the current Exchange Rate). Every month these guys are paid more Turkish Lira.

So to those (The banned TK1 especially) who say THY cannot pay in Euros, I'd like to know if that's a fact, how do these other carriers do it?!

Things are getting worse financially at an alarmingly quick rate. I haven't heard any rumors as to if the company have any intention of changing this. Should be a very interesting year or two with such quick expansion.

It is true SXS Captains (not FOs) are paid in Euros if they choose this option. Pegasus have a " protected rate" but THY does not and will not operate such a system. SXS collects Euro payments from SXD so perhaps this may help buffer them against rate changes but THY are firm on this matter, let's see!

I agree THY are firm on this matter. BUT, THY collect money from all tickets converted at the current rate to Euro/US Dollar. So the only reason they are firm on this is exploiting their staff. If they are so adamant about paying in TL, and don't see why they should otherwise, my question to them is why don't they charge in TL for their tickets? Easy answer to this one! They have a different policy for collecting money and paying money. As a company, they have little choice with such a s##t currency, but apparently it's good enough for the slaves!

It will only change if they lose loads of Pilots, and the cost of training becomes silly for them. As much as I'd love to see a change, I just cannot see it in the near future. I wish it were different.

BTW, the guy who was telling me his currency was paid in Euros was an FO, but this guy is working for Freebird. My mistake.
