Been there done that, got the T-shirt.
Furbpilot,it is obvious thy terms are going down due to currency volatility for a quite some time now,and wait until the Euro starts picking up in a year or two....
Sometimes tou win with the rates sometimes you lose...im sure Emirates guys were crying two years ago when the eur was buying 1.5 USD...to each his turn....
There is always the jobs in euros, but not so many north of 8-9000 eur/month.

Sure we did not. Just got the hat myself .Beside the exaggerations...TRY is the biggest loser among emerging countries currencies...We are talkin 46 % in 4 years. That's 10% a year as an average with peak loss of up 58% as one Euro was shortly worth 3,4 TRY against 1,.8 TRY of when I joined. And now it seems heading to new lows at incredible pace.

Well 8000/9000 on what fleet...and with how much overtime. The current rates are WB captain short of 9000 including allowance NB captain short of 7000 and FO 4500 euro. This rates are not competitive not even with EU low cost carrier. A huge shortage is about to happen...hope THY made his calculation correctly...but I doubt it.

I think it's starting to get so bad even WB Captains will start to look elsewhere unless there is a change. The main problem THY face though will be lack of quality applicants. The package was already very ordinary, and now with the current events I fear a very quick slide of the Lira, hence making it much much worse.

No mention or rumour of a fix in THY either. I wonder if anything at all is being pondered by the powers that be?!

I don't know why everyone worries about the money in THY.

The Agencies state the salary is "Very Attractive" So it must be so!

I wonder if they'll be honest in a year or so and say "Pretty crap"?

I'm still wondering what Sigma got in response to their claim of a 20% payrise. As they said to me that there must be some "logical explanation" (or words to that effect). Would love to hear what response they got, but I think I have an idea of what they would have been told.

Just out of my curiosity can't you find anything in Europe with a 320 rating?

What do you think? Obviously not.

Aviation sucks so bad here that the only 'jobs' out there are either for P2F/P4T low cost airlines, or in general low cost carriers that only have one business strategy: make people leave by flogging them 900 hours throughout Europe so they can replace them with cheaper ones after their shelf life (10-15 years) has expired and they are burned out.

Anyone having started pilot training and invested $>100k for training and type ratings within the last 5 years is a complete fool.

This is a reality check for all those fools who leave Europe in order to fly a bigger and shinier jet there, and the big irony is that the more successful the ME3 and THY become, the more European legacy carriers are coming under pressure and the less reasonable jobs there will be to return to.

p.s. looks like another pay cut for those getting paid in Turkish Lira: Turkish Lira Plunges To Record Low As Coalition Talks Break Down | Zero Hedge

It seems to me that Easy is actively recruiting and offers quite a good package.

THY to hire 40 Iranian pilots

According to credible rumors THY lost more than 160 pilot in the last tmonths. This due to declining terms and conditions, TRY and the well known other issues faced by expatriate. So instead of improving the terms in order to attract quality professional able to help in the expansion they just come out with the idea of hiring Iranian pilots.. Whilst I have no prejudice I just wonder, and apparently also Turkish pilots association have the same doubt, having been the country under as severe embargo which kind of international experience will they bring in as an asset. They really must be desperate.

Interestingly enough, my last company hired an Iranian pilot (about 20 years ago) and I have to tell you that he was absolutely excellent.

The market of experienced crew has dried up, and 20 top years of diminishing t&cs had finally come home to roost for even the bigs boys.

The boot is now on the other foot, and I won't pay for my type rating etc. pay up, as there are now much better offers.

I can't imagine they give a crap - if they believe THY are 'the best European airline' then they will believe anything, or more importantly and likely, only care about the ticket price / city pairs.

Doubtful that THY are even among the best airlines in Turkey

Also let's not forget there are not names' tags on the partition's wall that say "today you Capt./FO are..."

I've grown up among iranians and I have spent time in Teheran as well. The way the country is ruled is horrible but Iranians are generally warm, well educated, disciplined and modern thinking people. The way you take for granted that they are of less value than yourselves is plainly disgusting.

What's truly shocking is that THY now plans to hire 50 Dutch, German and Americans..

I don't give a crap who they hire as long as the can fly and have good CRM.

I have been one of the happier guys here on widebody, but the ever decreasing pay in a real currency is getting to the point I am for the first time seriously looking at leaving. I sure hope they do something soon, as it's rather silly how much we lose on a monthly, let alone yearly basis. The adjustment for inflation isn't even close to what the actual inflation is.

Good luck getting quality applicants THY, when you lose so many of the current employees as it is. Very disappointing.
