Yes. Although to be honest, I think they were only ever looking for Captains to start with. The very first ad specified Captains and no mention of F/Os. It was only subsequently that they appeared on the ads.
A friend of mine applied as an F/O early on and was told Captains only. Sorry!

Fersala,
we have been quite reluctant to get involved in this thread due to the off-topic discussions about Pilots pay and conditions.
Astraeus is a profitable ACMI operator with a principle base in Gatwick. The A320 is joining the fleet to operate on an ACMI basis with whoever needs the capacity. This means the aircraft could end up flying out of Gatwick or anywhere else. Our recently acquired 757 G-STRW has been Manchester based since delivery doing some work for a major UK airline.
We operate to our approved Flight Time Limitation scheme which, basically gives 8 days off in each 28 day period.Standby's are generally mingled with flying duties, depending on the flying program for the particular aircraft or fleet.
Astraeus Airlines | Boeing 737 & 757 Aircraft Leasing | Flystar has more details of the airline.

And long may they remain profitable Hamrah. It's great news that your mob is recruiting Pilots, one of the few. T+C not brilliant but even if Pilots were paid a sack of gold, they would complain about the weight....

for those complaining about the rates if you are a contractor with Astraeus, get yourself a tax planning measure in place. Captains on contract with Ryanair are walking home, fully tax compliant, with over 80% of their gross salary and FO's are walking out with nearer to 90%.
Concentrate on the net take home and not the gross rate. If you need to go contracting while this recession runs its course make sure you are doing it smartly. I contracted for years and always did alright out of it. My net take home pay was always as good or better than the guys on the nice full time employee contracts. Its not ideal because you are losing out on pension entitlements but its better than not working at all.

A job is a job,
1. Get job,we all know how hard that can be,
2. Get paid ( what ever that may be )at the end of the month,
3. Money = food and living,
4. We all eat food and live somewhere,
5. goto 2
This is the constant cycle we all need, I am not trying to teach how to suck eggs, but a job is a job,but if you are out of work, this opportunity might well seem very attractive even though it might not be the best paid.
What Day Dreamer said is very correct.

Its a Job
Flying again
Renewing experience
A chance to pay those bills again
A happier family
What cost for the above ? Priceless !!!
I rest my case M'lud.!!

The first A320 is sitting at Kemble as we speak. Its an ex-Iberia machine that finished her days with Clickair. It arrived with another Clickair bus (EC-GRE) that is being currently parted out at Kemble.
Although its old it should have been well maintained at Iberia. A "G" reg is on reserve

There is a training course of what would seem like 10 guys starting 28th September.
Where did you hear about the number of aircraft?
Any inclination of who the client may be?
Not sure about interviews. Advert on flightglobal.com no longer there.......

Fwiw, a colleague of mine has literally just asked me about Astraeus (a very experienced bloke looking to apply)... and I'll paraphrase what I wrote to him:
One can't really say fairer than that, can one ?
Wrt Astraeus, I had many happy years there (7 actually) and it's a lovely little airline (as airlines go)... great fun, well run, and with very good standards (and all eminently practical):
Whilst Astraeus is probably not the best package in the world, one could do a lot worse. The flying is / was brilliant... all sorts of whacky places and you're very much left to get on with the job... a real "Can Do" attitude is required. With out any doubt Astraeus was the best flying that I have ever done... and probably some of the best training too! Fwiw, I do sometimes wonder why I left?!
The job's they've been offering recently (as I understand it) are for an A320 orientated customer that they're involved with..... remembering that Astraeus now predominantly do ACMI type work.
They also operate the B737-700 and the B757-200, all with ETOPS, on a World Wide AOC.

Rainboe - you are missing the point. It does not matter whether a company is a minnow or a whale. What matters is whether they are making money and are also good to work for. I actively would prefer RYR or EZY to Astraeus every time because they pay sensible salaries. I have no emotional attachment whatsoever to minnows - I do have a massive emotional attachment to good terms and conditions.

Why is it that sooner or later someone has to introduce the old FR EZY fight into every thread regardless of its relevance?
This thread has absolutely nothing to do with those 2 companies. They both have good and bad points which are constantly being batted elsewhere.
As regard to Asraeus, I would be interested to know if the new `Buses are already `earmarked` for a specific customer, if so who, or still `up for grabs`. Someone joining may think they are going to be LGW based but are actually destined to a sojourn in Upper Slobovia!!!!!

Colder eh ? I couldn't possibly hazard a guess....
NSF, I find your continued bleating on about salaries somewhat unsavoury in respect to what is happening to your colleagues at present.
Obviously if you were EMA based you would rather go to the 'job club' than earn less than £100k a year
