"bleeds off, try to successfuly join easyjet first, and then you will be able to send us your comments about exhasting conditions in low cost airlines (even if we all know that easyjet is "less worse" than other LCC )
Thank you ! "

Thanx for the advice. I will think about it. In the meantime I am experiencing far worse roster than loco's on a turboprop, but I can not afford to be picky yet, unlike you. Don't worry 'bout me, I do know about really harsh rosters. But I'm happy to fly. Anyway, I do not expect you to understand that.

A4, Stone Cold, Wing

I'm sure you guys appreciate nuageblanc's precious advices.
And I can assure you that it has got nothing to do with language barrier. I left my country few years ago partly because of such prevailing state of mind amongst the majority of wannabes I have come across. I now realize that things have not changed much since. I am the first to deplore it.

They hire all types of experience and people with different backgrounds.
I joined when I had around 3000 hours with about 800 PIC on a ATR.

Hope that answers your question.

As mentioned in the financial webcast:

easyJet plans to grow 15% year over year over year.

So whatever you plan, keep this in mind. A319 orders plus options now total 315 planes. So for the next 3 years EZY is looking for _1500_new flight deck.
Next year around 450 and ramping up beyond that to be in line with the 15% annual growth target. The first busses will leave after 7 years of service and have probably racked up 21.000 hours by then. The next wave will probably be a bit longer in service in order not to flood the second hand market and keep the resale value up. Policy is to keep DEC as low as possible but as experience levels vary wildly, both on type and total, EZY is looking for experienced pilots as well. As being shown by the current inflow of ex-emirates A340 DEC's.

T&C's:
After years of eroding T&C's in the industry now is the time to get the package back up. Basic Salary is ok'ish, Pension is rock bottom at 7% (and you still pay your own uniform) so there is room for improvement there.

Roster: 5-4 5-3. I never actually did 5 4 sector earlies (and am London based) and the last day is sometimes a contactable which makes thing manageble. 5-4 5-4 SHOULD be doable during winter but I don't hold my breath.

Career:
Some like long-haul, some don't. Some like exotic Arabic places, some like to be in their own bed. Out of LGW you do about 40 different destinations and growing. Some like to be in Big Iron, others reckon that in a Airbus it doesn't really matter what's behind the flight deck door. Most seem to want a working mix of A320 and A330. We'll see about that. Whatever people wish, I hope they get it, be happy about it and wish their fellow aviator the same.

Something I really mean:

THE PEOPLE IN EZY MAKE IT A GREAT PLACE TO WORK.

I hope you have the same in your company. Now let's have a drink...

Well, basic salary for a cadet 200hrs FO is GBP 24,445
and basic salary for a direct entry SFO is GBP 44,740.

easyjet is a low cost airline, so its aim is to earn money by something else than 20GBP return ticket to Alicante !

In other word, the less you have experience the better is for easyjet

Hope this help !

He's at it again!

Nuageblanc

A cadet gets the same package a direct entry FO gets. Once the ATPL is unfrozen you get the same package an SFO gets, whether you joined as a cadet or not. The basic you quote doesn't include the £1000 a month loan repayment, as it is a tax write-off. Cadets' aren't a cheap option, unless they leave in their six month probationary period which is happening less and less.

Recruiting endless numbers of inexperienced F/Os is not what ezy try to do and nor would it benefit them. Like any other large jet operator they need a cross section of experience to keep operational standards high and avoid the situation where two inexperienced crew members are rostered together.
easyJet makes money through keeping costs low, but it's pilot workforce isn't an area where they look to take shortcuts. We make money through yield management with seat pricing (you will find not everyone flying to ALC this morning paid £20) and by focusing on anciliary sales onboard.

Coffee Black None is spot on - what makes ezy a good place to be is the crew you work with. I always have a good day out at work. You'll notice all the positive (and accurate!) feedback is coming your way from pilots who actually work for ezy. Your entitled to your opinion, but I'm afraid we're also entitled to rubbish it!

Good luck with your CRJ job by the way.............

Wrong ! check website mate

Once the ATPL is unfrozen you get the same package an SFO gets, whether you joined as a cadet or not.
Of course ! and once you are captain you get captain salary thanks god !!
What I am telling is that a 200 hrs cadet will need to work for 2 years to be unfrozen, in the meantime, easyjet will pay him twice less than a direct entry SFO (check again website )

Best regards !

Nuageblanc, ca c'est la verite.

I recently went on hols to Tuscany, flying into Pisa. Couldn't get staff travel with EZY, cheapest I could get with EZY was GBP160 return. I went with BA for GBP93 return. That's how it's done. Supply and demand.

Why don't you understand some of us work for EZY so have first hand experience, and are therefore not basing our arguaments on the 'website'.

And if you actually bothered to look carefully at the website you'll see a cadet FO gets paid exactly the same as a direct entry FO:

Cadet FO = £24445+12000 loan repayment =£36445
Cadet SFO = £32740+12000 loan repayment =£44740
Cadet Cpt = £61792+12000 loan repayment =£73792

Also it is usually possible to upgrade to SFO on your 3rd recurrent, so 18months.

Jesus Christ.

Nuageblanc.

You want me to check the website? To see how much I earn? How about I just check my payslip?

I joined as a cadet. I'm about to unfreeze my atpl. It took me 18 months. I am paid the same as a direct entry F/O - i.e. the cadet basic plus £12,000 a year to cover the loan repayment. Add £12,000 to the cadet basic and guess what? Oui mon copain, it's the same basic as a direct entry F/O!

Monsieur Cloudy,

Oh how I chuckle while reading your posts...

Having flown both short haul for 5 years, and now longhaul on the 744 for 6,
I believe I am in a good position to comment.HORSES FOR COURSES.

ie. some like SH cos of the fun flying, home every night, and job satisfaction.

Some PUT UP with LH cos of....um....days off between trips, and struggle with the boredom of a 12 hour flight with Capt Haddock next to you(with the charisma of a rabbit-dropping...."look at this picture of my Porsche and Thai wife" zzzzzzzzzzzzz) Your skill levels and moral can drop drastically when you do 1 landing a month, and lets be honest.. we all got into flying cos we love flying...not doing a Sidokou at 35,000ft over Mongolia at night.

I suggest something, try LH and then try SH, then make up your mind what you want to do. Don't slag off people who have made their own mind up, they shouldn't have to defend their decision.

Ciel Bleu

JJB

ps. am trying to leave a "fantastic legacy carrier" with lots of money for a SH satisfying job....ah bliss... a pilot again...

Right on the money, thanks

Back to the subject kids:
Our pilot recruitment needs for 2007 have now been met and we are anticipating that further course spaces will not be available until at least November 2007, from which time they will resume again on a monthly basis.
P.S.
Which is proof that all those pilots either already working for eZ, or that will be working for eZ, are interested in that sort of flying

P.S.

nuageblanc,

You've got some balls coming on here and telling experienced guys what you believe is the way things are. The funny thing is you clearly have very little idea on what you are talking about!! Unless you have some major attitude modification i'd be surprised if you manage to make it anywhere some serious tin.

I do some work with pilot recruitment at easyJet, I couldn't tell you how many pilots we are going to recruit and when. Why? Because I don't know. It's either a closely guarded secret or the powers that be don't exactly know. We are very good at detecting bullsh t and arrogance, if we don't quite catch it then those types of people will very unlikely make it through the sim on the second day, as whiffs of bovine by-products is part of the sim evaluation. Ask most pilots at easyjet how many arseholes they fly with and there aren't many of them - perhaps a known few.

I have to echo JJB's sentiments and we probably work for the same mob out east.
A few years ago when I joined civvie street and was looking at prospective employers I was ignorant but respectful of the industry I was joining. Old enough now to realise the "grass is greener" factor, I can still see the attraction of (and am seriously considering) returning to the UK and working for easyJet, albeit as DE LHS. As a long-haul FO on the -400, I have had one TO/landing in the last 6 weeks. I get into the sim twice a year and although they'd have to handcuff me to return to the RAF, I do miss the comfort of flying an aircraft so often you don't have to think about the basics every time you wish to commit aviation, and be berated annually by a Training Captain who has no idea how to instruct, let alone criticise.
I have to suppress a smile at the impression that long haul means family time between trips. I get only 2 - actually, it's 3 but I have to get myself to my base at my own expense the day before and put myself up at a local hotel. Believe me, once you've done 6 of those on the trot, you don't know which way is up, your paperwork commitment at home gets ever higher and quality time with the family is saddly lacking. Moreover, IMHO we are recruited on our ability to get on and do things on our own without the benefit of a structured training system other than the check rides we receive every 6 months. As a result, the Frag Harb forums...foraa...threads are littered with constant gripes about inadequate training system.
On the other hand, I'm getting a reasonable salary for sitting at FL350 over Mongolia doing Su Doku, actually I'm more of a Kakuro man, and suspect that there would be other issues at eJ that would cause concern. Someone once told me that all aircrew concern themselves with 2 things: income and time off, or to sum them: lifestyle. There are also inherent leadership issues outwith the scope of this thread that are common in all industries where business managers manage a group of specialist professionals, such as pilots or doctors - one for another time.
To that end, the previous threader was correct in his "horses for courses" analysis. In my experience, easyJet has a good reputation at present and would offer me much on a personal and professional level. I just felt I couldn't let the idea that the natural progression from LC carrier to LH company was the accepted norm.
