EZ Future Hiring

Will Easyjet still hiring in 2008??
TX

abfgh 5th May 2007 23:31

Yes! But expansion will slow down again.

Wingswinger 6th May 2007 08:20

But the company is set almost to double in size over the next 3 -5 years.

abfgh 6th May 2007 09:30

Less A/C deliveries in 2008. So we will not need 450 pilots like this year....still I guess about 200 are needed.

carrerausa 6th May 2007 15:54

Any insiders with more info on this ? Is it true ?

Things not going as planned ?
Signs of weakening market ?

Any info on # of deliveries 2008, Hiring 2008 ?
Does this mean no more direct entry left seat ?

Which bases will see expansion in 2008 ?

orangetree 6th May 2007 16:16

they'll need more than 200. 'Apparently' they overcooked recruitment this year and we're slightly overcrewed at the minute. In reality, I doubt that:rolleyes:

saigona 6th May 2007 16:18

What about DTM? Is it true that the Apt.Authority is trying to get permission for Extension of the Nightlandings till 2300local?
And is it true that EZ is waiting for that precondition to push the Expansion in Dortmund!?

Cheers

Colonel Klink 6th May 2007 18:44

It may be slightly less than 450 pilots next year, but 1500 pilots are needed over the next three years. Attrition is slightly less than planned so we are overcrewed by a touch, so they say..........................!!

A4 6th May 2007 18:58

I've heard 400+ for the next two years and approx 40 aircraft in 2009! Some of which I imagine will be replacing the "early" Busses.

I don't think there's any hint of a weakening market but of course the green agenda is gathering pace so who knows what additional taxes/levies/excuses for grabbing more money to waste on non-environmental issues the governement will come up with. That might affect demand - but not significantly.

Attrition is down because it's not actually a bad place to work now compared to many other operators. There are still issues to be resolved, and I suppose there always will be, anyone thinking of joining could do a lot worse.

easyjet looks attractive because it is the only one that recruit, and with all kind of levels (cadets, 200hrs, type rated, direct captains, etc), and the posibility to be a captain rapidly. BUT it is a low cost airline and conditions will never be as good as flag carrier airlines. it is HARD work, and what do easyjet pilots do during their days off ??? THEY SLEEEEEEEEEP, they sleep, and they sleep again !!! :ugh:
"with easyjet you are always back home every day " , yes but you can be back home (straight to your bed) at 2 am !!

So, nothing to worry about, lots of easyJet pilots will leave their jobs as soon as they can go to better airlines (Virgin, Cathay, BA, Thomson, etc) :ok:

Guillaume.

Wingswinger 7th May 2007 07:04

..And I know of a number who have left Virgin, Cathay, BA or a major charter operator to go to EZ and who are now quite happy.

Many Young FOs would leave if they had the opportunity, no doubt. Many try, some succeed. But time to command in BA is now out to 15 years and lengthening. Would a young EZ captain, in his/her late 20s/early 30s, quit to go to a company in which he/she may not regain the LHS until nearly aged 50? Perhaps. On other hand, perhaps not. Terms and conditions at EZ have been improving; whether or not that trend continues we shall soon see.

Kif 7th May 2007 18:18

To nuageblanc:
I work for easy and it's NOT hard work. I do NOT "sleep sleep sleep" on my days off. Compared to other jobs I've had in the past I've never done so little for so much pay. £2200-2800/month after tax is not bad for less than 140hrs of duty a month. Those who get exhausted by working 5-4-5-3 must be kinda lazy... :)

Stone Cold II 7th May 2007 19:14

Nuageblanc speak for yourself! Does not sound like you know what goes on in Ezy. I don't come home and go to sleep every hour spare I have, no need I have not worked more than 50 flying hours a month since xmas.

Now some bases the days can be long especially at Gatwick but I'm sorry mate I cannot recall the last time I have heard anyone say they wanted to leave, pilot attrition is now low.

You say the terms and conditions will never be as good as a flag carrier? Well a mate of mine works for a flag carrier short haul and he gets paid less than me, is home less than me and he WORKS HARDER THAN ME!

The money you can be on in ezy after 5 years service providing you make captain would take around 15-20 years in a so called major carrier. :ugh:

I'm not leaving, I like my lifestyle to much and can't afford the pay cut to go somewhere else!:)

unablereqnavperf 7th May 2007 19:58

Stone ColdII, things must have changed a bit then Thats all I ever done on my days off the only time I ever flew only 60hrs in a months is when I had leave! Easy is not a bad job but I certainly got fed up of 99hrs a month plus 6 days in the sim! I'm sur ethe current over crew will soon rebalance it self and you'll find your nose up against the grind stone!

I'm glad your happy there but a lot of the guys i seen at Flaps one's funeral looked pretty tired to me!

Stone Cold II 7th May 2007 21:27

That's why I said it can vary at different bases, Gatwick or any other London base is not a base I would want for the reasons you mention. Best base probably East Midlands.

You mention you were in the sims 6 days, I agree working as a trainer in ezy is a lot harder.

nuageblanc 8th May 2007 14:13

5 4 5 3
Ok, 4 days off it is good !, but waking up 5 consecutive days at 4am to come back home at 4 pm doing most of the time 4 sectors with a 25 minutes walkaround will make your next 4 days off very usesful
Then, the same thing during another 5 working days coming bak home well after midnight :ouch:

Being captain after 3 years is very good ! but after that, what the hell can you do ? Flying the only A319 during 35, 40 years ? :ugh:

easyjet is good, and much better than some airlines, but it is not an airline forever, to my opinion !
hence, I am sure easyjet will always need pilots to cover expansion, as well as many of its pilots leaving for many reasons.

Nuage blanc,

I understand from another thread you started yourself that you are a low hours wannabe who is still looking for a pilot job.
Sure you are entitled to have your opinions about EZY rosters but I do not think you know concretely what you're talking about.
A lot of pilots have flown "only" turboprops all their career long and have been happy with that.
Then, first, focus on getting a job, and maybe some day you will be able to be choosy as for your type and roster.

PPRuNeUser0178 8th May 2007 16:11

Well said Bleeds Off!!

Although I do find the 5 earlies a killer, I think that is more to do with having a young family at home than anything else!!

But then I can speak from ACTUALLY HAVING FLOWN A 5/3/5/4 roster!

I can also say that I am far less tired/fatiqued than I was under 6/3 and have more down time now than then!!

Cheers

ED

Stone Cold II 8th May 2007 16:12

Again depends were you are based with regards to 5 4 sector earlies. I know this is the norm with the London bases that's why I would not want to be based there, I don't have any 4 sector earlies on this months roster, think I only have had 5 so far this year (could be just luck).

I was in East Midlands recently and the guys there say they don't have any 4 sector earlies.

Ezy is not for everyone granted, working out of a London base or being a TRI/TRE it is a lot of hard work in ezy, but I have not heard of anyone from my base planning to leave for sometime now due to it being easyJet, people will leave to try long haul or a different type of flying. Not everyone wants to fly big jets and at the end of the day does a A340 fly any differently to a A319? Practically the same flight deck so I ask what is wrong with flying a A319 for 35 years.

There are still things needed to be improve but it's getting there, it's not going to happen over night and the Balpa council have been doing a good job to improve things.

So the pro's in my opinion are good pay, quick command, I know my days off, home every night, lot's of routes, great crews, new aircraft and more importantly good job security. :ok:

longranger777 8th May 2007 17:00

Does anybody know when EZY is recruiting again? Or are they still recruiting but no more courses al least till Nov.?

blue skies.....
