From EZY:

Our pilot recruitment needs for 2007 are close to being met
That'll solve much of Flybe's current recruitment problems.

We have the SOU Airport Manager (because we don't really have one of our own) coming to BRS at 0700 tomorrow, with news arriving 0800 by email (or possibly carrier pigeon, given the delays)

Just heard from a source in Exeter that the deal won't be signed today. A further meeting with BA tomorrow has now been scheduled. Flybe has demanded further funds from BA now that more than half of Bacons Pilots are working their notice. Not sure why they are that upset now that they have 250 quality applications?

What a load of nonsense. Any pilot with half a brain, who wanted to fly for flybe, would have already applied.

Any pilot who got sucked in by the recent ads, deserves to have his licence taken off him or her for demonstrating complete stupidity.

Word from my spies on the inside, is that they are absolutely desperate for crews, mainly for the dodgy Dash.

Guess the Dash trainers are going to have no life for the foreseeable future...

How much extra cash are BA prepared to cough up for Flybe to take Bacon off it's hands ? Think JF is in a strong bargaining position, but if BA are so desperate to get rid, maybe he will get his hands well and trully burned! No winners out of this diabolical mess !!

errrrrrr....Jim.....I'm afraid that's your own fault for having such bad T & Cs and doing nothing to attract the BACon guys, get a grip man!

How can Flybe demand extra money for pilots leaving? People are entitled to work where they want, it's nothing to do with BA!

Regards P.

Because they agreed to acquire a going concern, which BACON no longer is.

Their own fault, really, they didn't seem to make any sort of effort to woo the BACON crews. Why they thought that the rashers would jump at the chance to accept inferior pay and conditions, when Easyjet was sitting there just waiting to grab the crews, is beyond me.

Somebody wasn't paying attention!

I would say that flybe are guilty of actually losing many of those crews by their ill-fated attempt at 'wooing' the BACON pilots in the immediate aftermath of the original announcement.
The cheesy-wottsit roadshow (as it is now referred to!), antagonised SO MANY guys who were originally going to give it a go, and other operators were only too glad to pick up the pieces. A c0ck-up of mammoth proportions!
Add to that the well publicised management tactics being used in flybe, has/will further alienate the crews who haven't finished tunneling out yet... a change in managerial style is definitely called for. Bollockings / tea & biscuits if crews haven't set the windscreen wipers at the correct angle (I KID YOU NOT!!!).
There are an awful lot of areas which need addressing in order to solve the issue of pilot retention.

Quite right, which will no doubt make for an "interesting" negotiation with BA.

With Flybe's rather agressive stance and a complete lack of information from BACON management, it's no surprise that the mass exodus has occurred. I've just done three interviews in two weeks and at each there were truckloads of BACON guys. If the deal falls through (I thought they were telling us today???) there will not be enough left to even continue running as an airline, even if BA wanted it.
Last one out, close the door.....

Urrr, I'm not sure what that was all about. Is it French fries on your shoulders or just lacking in the trouser department? I wasn't slagging off any offer... just the well known agressive stance of one of our former colleagues at a meeting and the complete lack of anything from our own management. I may still opt for Flybe, I don't have a problem with that, I'm just fed up with my destiny being decided for me without anyone bothering to tell me what it may be.

Any rashers receive a txt on their company phone about an hour ago?

I'd say Jimbo is in a vicious circle and has only just copped on.

Flybeeeeeeeeeee You are living in cloud cuckoo land. Flybe has always treated it's Pilot's like s..te. They have regarded them as the lowest form of life as soon as Jack Walker handed the day to day running to J.F.

The only thing that is good is the egit (or is it ejet)? and the modern systems they employ for the day to day operation (New Hangars, Modern computer System etc).

104 days off per year is complete rubbish. Most low cost operators allow at least 140 days off per year.

Very poor salaries.

Roster changes galore.

I won't go on. But I will say that everyone is allowed their opinion and the majority of people in the know are all saying one thing. Don't work for Flybe. Shame but J.F. has brought this on himself. I sense he won't be in his position much longer. The Walker trust will not put up with it.

Anyone care to post the content of this text message for the lower forms of life who don't have company phones?

Cheers
