Hey Mr LGW Vulture, you wanna leave your attitude at the door?

Alot of people are going to be having a hard time of it tonight, and for the next few months.... many I know in EAAC arn't going to be able pay their bills this month, have mortgages to pay, to put it mildly are in deep doo doo.

It is only hours since the whole thing has gone belly up and while I agree one needs to keep a positive mental attitude... keep your unsympathetic ideas to youself for at least a few days while we all regroup...

As for everyone in EAAC, its been a pleasure working with you, a fun company to work for!!

Riddle....wasn't being thoughtless, was merely trying to keep the sorrow away from the Rumours and News bit. Hence my sharpness!

I can aasure you, no axe to grind with EAAC. A hard working bunch. It will stand you in good stead for the challenges that lie ahead.........Gawd, now I'm getting sorrowful!

Now, what about those unanswered Q's??????

Good Luck to Everyone

I worked for European a year ago for about a year. It was a good company to work for, but the work load was very high and some people got put on a lot.

Even a year ago there didn't seem to be much job stability and there were always rumours flying around. The problem was that no one was ever told what was going on and people were kept in the dark.

At one point it seemed that everything was going really great with all the plans for Bath Travel etc etc and with the change of the logos on the 747s. Staff were committed, but were not rewarded for their hard work and effort and were sometimes not paid on time.

I just want to say well done to everyone who has stayed there until the end and I really do hope you find work soon. When I worked at European the people there were great. I haven't got a bad word to say about them. There seemed to be many problems in higher management and communicating what was going on with the company.

Feel free to message me if you used to, or work at European. Good luck to you all!

EAAC News

If EAAC is still a solvent trading company with circa 160 staff -are the remaining staff that are having their employ terminated going to in effect receive their arreared wages(without fight)? Albeit I am sure most of us can secure another job eventually it is the interim period that most of us worry about - paying the mortgage/rent etc...not to mention the costs that will incur whilst out job hunting....Can EAAC reassure us on this matter.

Once again I reiterate what a shame it all is and what a fab bunch of people work at European(myself included of course!). And best wishes to the 160 that remain.

Very sorry to hear this news. Anybody got an initial estimate on how many people are affected and how many from each fleet?

am I going mad?

Did you see it too? - I sure that not so many minutes ago there was definitely a reply on here from 'EAAC' - topic EAAC news. However on taking second look it has disappeared (quite apt).

please tell me you saw it and I'm not losing my marbles.

European downed by one of its competitors??

EAC was planning to take on B733s back in November 02 to be based at EDI,STN,NCL for a program of flying for Excel Aviation. Excel Aviation is the broking arm of Excel Airways.

It also expected to take on more B742s for some more shorthaul flying from LGW,MAN for Excel Aviation. All this would add to its business to SFB which it has flown for two years or more.

Blue skies ahead?

March 2004.

The Excel programmes have all disappeared completely. EAC had spent a lot of money working on B733s and bringing more B742s into the fleet for a busy summer programme that simply was there one minute and gone the next.

EACs flying to SFB was then taken by Air Atlanta Europe which has just bought a substantial stake in Excel and in a deal brokered by Excel Aviation. The customer walked at a day's notice after apparently being offered prices of the like that had never been seen before. AAE strangely had aircraft and crews already in place to be able to operate it at a day's notice.

Rumours started on here by persons unknown - all of which are damaging to EAC, diverting attention away from various events or trying to extend the bitter olive branch of kindness to EAC staff by saying that Excel is recruiting staff after EACs failure.

EACs business suffers because it doesn't have the income coming in to pay suppliers. Suppliers then get jittery because of the rumours.

Suspicious?

Anyone from Excel care to comment on these allegations? I would defy you to deny you're reading this because I'm damn sure you are. I just hope you're happy with your efforts and I'm certain you will be crowing about profits increasing again this year after this terrible episode.

BBC Reports 'Massive Job Losses At European Aviation'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/h...et/3521772.stm

Massive job losses at air company

More than 500 jobs are due to go at one of the South's biggest aviation companies, it has been announced.
European Aviation is to shed 560 jobs from a staff of just over 600, claiming it has expanded too rapidly.

It is thought the Bournemouth Airport-based company's fleet of aircraft could dwindle to just two.

The company, which charters large aircraft, trains cabin crew members and maintains and services aircraft, was set up in 1989.

European

There are a few people from European on the chat pages now. I feel so sorry for the people who have to find out via letter. I've got visions of HR sitting there for hours stuffing those envelopes! I should know.

Delsey

My 'Mum' saw the story on TV - she lives in Wiltshire. Not sure if it was national or local news. 'BBC Reports......' thread sums it up.
