Understand it is going to be used for English Channel monitoring patrols.
Thanks. That certainly an eye-opener on how the govt view the situation going forward.....I have noted a similar aircraft of the Icelandic Coast Guard doing sorties out of Lille in the English Channel for weeks at a time over the last year or so.

How accurate is FR24 info?

Just had a Patenavia Victor of Ravenair overhead tracking 270. According to the FR details its supposed to be Liverpool Aberdeen so what's he doing heading west just south of Mansfield on what appears to be a reciprocal to Liverpool?

It's been somewhat 'busy' along the Thames in the last hour, 3 CH-47's of the RNAF, 5 AH-1's of the RNAF, 2 CH-47's of Odiham's finest going at a good pace up and down. I can't remember when there's been so many movements in such a short time frame.

FlightRadar24 assumes that a route can be derived from an aircraft's callsign/flight number.

For an airliner, that's usually a reasonable assumption. For GA aircraft, much less so.

Low flying C17 south bound on the Pennines this afternoon around 15.45. Looked to go a little lower than normal up the Wessenden valley.

Cheers

There was an A400 doing a low level run through SE Scotland, down the Pennines, past Marsden about 3.35, then looks like it went on down along the Derwent, Howden and Ladybower reservoirs - as it's the 80th anniversary today, why not? - before heading over to Wales for some more low level work through the valleys there, then back to Brize via Tidworth.

Southern gliders have been enjoying the northerly breeze over the last several days, noted a few out from Lasham and Challock working the long South Downs scarp at low level along with the Parham and Ringmer pilots.

A Lancaster doing a tour of the country today for some reason. Perhaps an anniversary being marked? Shame there seems to be no mention of it in the media.

It was in my media, 80th anniversary of the Dambusters raid.

There's a Pilatus PC-6 out of Cumbernauld that has taken the long and winding road to Edinburgh and worked its way back roughly along the M8 and has been circling around Wishaw for the last 30 minutes. It might be longer but we only really noticed the buzzy little thing a while ago and despite all the circling we've not actually seen it but only heard it.

Your aircraft is correct as you probably were aware, it was your A400. It was about 2 miles from me at similar height from study window,

The T tail and swept wing through me, and I was not outside so could not hear any engine sounds. It was lower than the normal Hercules we get, so if the crew are reading this you don’t normally dip below the Wessenden hill side from our view point so lower than normal ? WFH this week so noticed more aerial activity and the weather has been kind ( you see KNC the sun does shine hear occasionally &#128578 .

Cheers

Mr Mac , if I was WFH in that area, I'd probably find myself in the Sair Inn - must be a decade since I last visited, hope it is still as good as I recall!

It's an Aerokopter AK1-3 Sanka (Ukrainian-built helicopter), hence the speed and height.

In the still of the night ...

Antonov 26 UR-CKV, heading outbound from Birmingham to Europe, tracking SE at 17,000 ft overhead the M25 and Lambourne VOR in Essex at 2 am, but still quite audible at London City. It's unusual for the Antonovs to be running over London in the middle of the night.
