Some other sources are suggesting it's a Bell 505 (Jet Ranger X), so not quite so exotic, but a helicopter nevertheless.

Yes the Sair Inn is still plying its rather unique trade. However like you its been a while since I last called in, and I always went in Winter as with the fires it just seemed better. The Old Bridge at Ripponden is another I would recommend if you are ever up this way, and the Riverhead Brewery in Marsden.

The RAF dont appear to be playing out today up here, as nothing heard or seen yet, apart from the normal commercial stuff into Manchester and Leeds, but its clouded up now, though warm.

Cheers
Mr Mac

Pair of USN Greyhounds NW of the Scillies and towards SW tip of Ireland. Presume a carrier in the area...

Mr Mac, certainly visited the Riverhead Brewery!

A USN MH-60 popped-up low-level about 20 south of The Scillies last evening also, so I suspect so also.

Out of interest do any of the shipping trackers show military vessels, or are they withheld from public view ? The P-8 in the above post seems to be searching/monitoring something headed westwards.

Two MH60s wandering around mid-Channel South of IOW/Brighton stretch of coast...

edit: The carrier is showing as a US Government Vessel with a helpful pic on marinetraffic.com - currently south of Worthing.

Ooh! I wonder where that's headed ? That would explain all the mil movements in that area this morning. I wonder if the Greyhounds will return soon, though it's probably illegal to do carrier movements by aircraft in such choke-points.

Eastbound with a covering vessel ahead. Something with Aegis I would guess.

Maybe, but It's going to get a bit shallow for that before long I would have thought. Not that I know much about that subject of course.

I didn't see where it went but there was an RAF Chinook coasting out in the general direction of the carrier earlier this morning - don't know if it hitched a lift!

Just heard a King Air 350 pass over the top, N350BW, operated by one of those (apparently) quasi military security outfits. Online pics seem to show it being a fairly normal B350. Website is a cliché of buzz words, or is it abuzz with clichéd words?

Just like ADS-B, the marine tracker (AIS) of military surface vessels transmits all the time.

(Unless its switched off. Which is most of the time).

UR-HOT just departed Biggin, showing as a RF- SU-57! Ground speed of 110kts certainly suggests something more mundane. Presume the same machine.

Judging from the aircraft symbol, Heathrow's WebTrak is taking the "Jet" part of Jet Ranger a bit too literally.

The USN Carrier disappeared from AIS earlier this morning as did the accompanying vessels. However, another MH-60 popped up a little while ago about where the Gerald Ford would be based on the last known course and speed. Anyone know if there is a Baltops 23?
