I believe they work up each Spring at RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus, for more reliable weather.
I think they go somewhere in Greece these days, since Akrotiri was unable to host them?

Samaritans' Purse DC-8 has just got airborne from Shannon. If it's coming this way, shame the cloud is pretty solid...

A long way from home, indeed. The IAF C-130Js all have serials in the KC- range (today's was KC-3801), but I'm not convinced they are tankers.

Italian Air Force KC-767 with a couple of jets in trail flew over at lunch time heading north, just too much cloud to photograph or see what the ‘chicks’ were

That was me joining up two & two while peering at my Smart Phone on a footpath... straight C-130J it is!

See the KC-767 is southbound from Keflavik, appears they were F35s for Icelandic QRA duty

By chance the 748VIP that was sitting at BSL for the last 12 years flew over southern UK on the 15th headed to Marana AZ for 'scrapping' even though it only has 42 flying hours on the clock. Apparently Boeing have purchased it. I would be very surprised if it was scrapped, more likely repurposed or parted out at worst. All the aforementioned courtesy of a tabloid ;-)

748VIP? Oh you mean 747-8. My first thought was a twin turboprop (HS748)!

You don't often hear HS748 and VIP in the same sentence.

Though, having said that, the Royal Family used to fly around in Andovers ...

There are very few C-5's flying these days it would seem, I wonder why that might be ? The 'M' version was with the uprated engines and cockpit wasn't it? To carry on transporting outsize cargo for Uncle Sam for the foreseeable. Are they suffering from component drought ?

An AN124 went over London yesterday coming from the USA headed to Poland, perhaps it was subbing.

Over 50 C-5M are still in service, with (according to ADSB-Exchange) five airborne over the USA as I type this. There have been one or two overflying to Europe most days recently.

Agree with this.

I recently set up an ADSBx receiver, I've had some of them on my own kit.

Low flying C17 on the Pennine low fly route southbound, over flew me while driving down Saddleworth Moor at 17.30.
Cheers

Yes, the recent and usually reliable World Air Forces survey in Flight lists 52 in service.

Recently about one a week over SE UK - unusually, yesterday's was sending ADS-B position, whereas they normally don't, for example last Monday evening's westbound example.
