i got my license issued yesterday on pa30 piper twin commanche with MEIR... I came across so many rumors about the muti engine and IR requirements for conversion. I just did the training and dint have a foreign IR on my CPL.... still didnt have a problem.!

it took exactly 78 days for process of conversion. My file was with DC Sharma. and must say that he is a pretty cool guy. always answers your call and is not at all rude

waiting for the license to dispatch from DGCA. do anybody know how long does DGCA take to dispatch the license once it is issued?

Congratulations. As long as the applicant submits all the required documents, there will never be a problem. I suggest you collect your licence right away rather than waiting for the DGCA to post it to you. I made a big mistake doing the latter. It took 3 weeks to get my licence from the time it was issued.

the reason it took that long is because once your license says issued on the website only then the paperwork starts in their office, pasting your picture, details, signatures of concerned authority etc etc

so the normal time line is : issue date + 4-7days(filework) + 3-4 days speed post.

Thank you. And did u mean it took 3 weeks for your license to dispatch or u went and collect it by yourself?

Im planing to give the ATPL October attempt. Therefore i need my license asap for applying before the last date of submission.

Yes, it took exactly 22 days (from the time of issue) to receive my licence by post. In your case, regarding applying for the ATPL, I'm sure the last date would be somewhere around the 2nd or 3rd week of October. But I suggest you go to the Licensing section and collect your documents from there. You never know when they would dispatch it to you.

i am goin for my recency(flew duchess fr my ME training) and if duchess is no longer valid den wat should be da plan of action now?
why is there no confirmed news or declaration by the dgca on this in their website? they should at least clarify their every move and suggest alternatives for people facing problems or those who have a query.RIDICULOUS!!

cyril - It is surprising. I have a doubt at the same time. Regarding the first link, don't you think the guy must have done his IR renewal on the C172, assuming his IR on Duchess expired and the DGCA wouldn't issue him an IR if he did his renewal on the Duchess. The second link only shows the Duchess endorsement on his CPL which he must have applied for in February 2011. Anyway, I'm just confused about the entire episode. Please clarify.

I am as confused as you buddy . The one thing I understood so far is that for those who applied after July 1 , 2011 they are still issuing endorsements .

How long will they keep issuing endorsements is anybody's guess

I am going to Delhi after diwali and will pay them a visit and see if i can find more info . I will soon be going for recency and I am still undecided on the multi engine recency part .


On another note this something another pprune member brought to my notice
The requirement for 10 hours on a specific multi only seems to be given on the flow chart . He told me that he cant see the rule anywhere within the DGCA regs that states you need 10 hours on the multi
WHAT IS WRITTEN ON THE FLOW CHART CANNOT BE TAKEN AS A RULE

This means that for someone who has previously flown the duchess can now fly the PA-34 or DA-42 and get the aircraft endorsed on the DGCA license by just flying the skill checks , cross country checks and IR check .

If anybody out there can find the rule that says you need 10 hours on a specific multi engine aircraft anywhere within the DGCA Regs please let us know

I have a doubt. I have flown in the US and I have only 70hrs of SOLO Time
Some of the guys who converted there license told me that DGCA 100 Hrs PIC
requirement is actually 100 hrs SOLO!!! Is there any truth to this?
if it solo i'm basically screwed now. I have all my other reuirements

Thats what it says on the flow chart and thats what it says in the REGS .

Unfortunately however on the application forms and CA 39 forms there is no "PIC" column for single engine aircraft . Only SOLO and DUAL are given

So just put your SOLO + PIC time in the SOLO column

Its true in the past the DGCA used to create issues out of this situation . But not anymore . They just follow the flow chart word to word

i just finished my cpl on beechcraft 76 in august 2011 and thats the only multi aircraft my school has.
now m back from usa only to find disappointment in store..
so what are we supposed to do now go back and do 10 hours of flying on piper seneca ?
do we need to go thru the checkride again...im so confused
did u hear anything from dgca ?
any help in the matter would be really appreciated.

Can't be sure. Why don't you pay a visit to the DGCA or call them (as long as they answer the phone) and find out? They have issued BE76 endorsements in September/October.

Has anyone still been able to figure out what aircraft to fly for recency and for how many hours if in possession of FAA CPL with multi add-on on Duchess???
I called up DGCA but all in vain, the call was just transfered from one person to the other.

Hey buddy,, I did check with DGCA and now I am flying Seneca (PA-34-200T) which is registered in India and DGCA is converting it. So you can do your recency on Seneca.
And if you need any help then let me know.

For those of you that flew the Cessna 310 I just wanted to bring to your notice that VT-EJX CoA has been renewed and is valid till 10 July 2013 .

So the DGCA should endorse it until it expires .

Hey guys.. I see this is a very old post. Does anyone know if the BE76 aka duchess is registered in India or not? Cause I've started my type rating and multi conversion on it but i don't want to go ahead if it isn't recognized.
