Something strange happened.
I was scheduled for the 29th Aug interview but I just received a call informing me that my interview has been postponed to 4th Sept.
I asked what was the cause of it and the reply was "unforeseen circumstances".
Anyone experienced similar situation? D:
I really liked it to be on a Saturday so I do not have to take leave. haha

seems interview is being postponed for many guys. probably for everyone.

Eye Test Report for 1st Round Interview

Hi Guys, does anyone know if there's a specific eye test report form that needs to be filled in prior to the first interview? My doctor just wrote the results of my eye test on a memo pad. Any ideas?

That's fine, as long as he tested and recorded what the email asked for. Judging from the past, they don't really bother about the presentation of the report :)

heshcityboy 31st Aug 2015 01:15

Can anyone share what was asked in the interview ? :bored:

flying.monkeyz 1st Sep 2015 13:22

Tell me about yourself.
Why do you want to be a pilot?
Why do you want to join SQ?

CloudFly 1st Sep 2015 13:55

@ flying.monkeyz

Do you know when is the 2nd batch of first interviews? I know the first batch of first interviews is still going on, until 4-Sep. So far nobody has got rejection email yet..

Aveheart 1st Sep 2015 15:55

@Cloudfly Rejection Emails

Hey Cloudfly,

The application page & the website clearly mentioned that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, meaning anyone not selected wouldn't be emailed & notified.

CloudFly 2nd Sep 2015 00:54

Hi aveheart, yeap I know. I am talking about the 1st interview which SIA is conducting from 29-Aug to 4-Sep. People who attended the 1st interview and got rejected will receive a rejection mail. So far nobody has received the rejection mail yet.

wonderland 2nd Sep 2015 02:28

Relax, rejection letters are coming. :ok:

orophin 6th Sep 2015 14:26

overheard that results of the 1st round will be made known to the candidate within 3 week after the 1st interview. 3 weeks after 4 Sep = 25 Sep. Still a long waiting time. Happy waiting, no news is good news!

CloudFly 7th Sep 2015 05:53

Someone has got the aptitude test scheduled on 10-Sep, this Thursday. Wonder when will the next round of 1st interviews start..

orophin 8th Sep 2015 06:02

@Cloudfly do you know when did that person attend the interview?

CloudFly 9th Sep 2015 00:19

The interview is generally from 29-Aug to 4-Sep. Those who attended on 29-Aug have gotten their emails for aptitude test/rejection. So far there are two aptitude test dates: 10-Sep and 14-Sep ;)

BTW, aptitude test and 2nd interview are conducted on separate days now.

durrrr 9th Sep 2015 02:16

Hi @CloudFly, I attended the first interview on the 29th but have yet to receive any emails from SIA. Should I wait out or call them to check the outcome?

wonderland 9th Sep 2015 02:27

Definitely call them, you have to remind them you are still around. :ok:

orophin 9th Sep 2015 06:36

Thanks Cloudfly. I attended on 4 Sep so i am thinking more time is needed for the results to be released. Fingers crossed!

Hi guys, do you happen to have any point of contact with the HR ppl? I can't seem to find the number online and the only point of contact is thru the email they sent me. However, they haven't replied my email yet.

SIA HR phone number or email address is not available anywhere on the internet. I would suggest you to go to the SIA office and try to highlight your problem to the receptionist or someone. make them understand how badly you need this to sort it out. im sure they would try to understand your effort of coming down all the way to their office. If i were you I would have definitely done that because that's how badly i need it.

wonderland 13th Sep 2015 07:22

Ha, there is no way they will let you into STC to talk to HR with a reason like that. Just sit and wait, if you get the call, good for you, don't drink the alcohol during the tea party, and don't venture out to the town during OBS Lemut.

This job ain't for everybody. 8 or 12 successful out of 1000's of applications, they will not care to update that you did not pass, or be bothered to update you on your application, or guarantee you an interview if you spent the weekend filling up the application form.

The mighty yellow bird company doesn't owe anything to the wannabe cadet pilot, we are and will always be the lowest form of life in the company...

if you cant give an encouraging advice then the least favor you can do is to stop discouraging people. there is no harm in trying to get the attention of someone at the SIA office and highlighting the issue. its not a crime. at least that could be the last resort that he had tried his best. if it was me i would have definitely tried going there. no harm. they allowing me inside to meet the HR or not is the next thing.

wonderland 13th Sep 2015 14:19

Hmmm, if I gave the email address of the lady who runs the recruitment whose name starts with the letter after "I", trust me, she'll yell at you, make you cry and probably swallow your resume and it'll never see the light of day ever again.

Just sit tight...:ok:

sorry mate. looks like you wont find any help here.

fromdgrndup 15th Sep 2015 02:19

Its an aggregate of tests.. More often than not, when you think you haven't done well, you end up doing good. All you can do is wait and hope for the best. Just messing up one does not put you at a disadvantage if you've done relatively well in the rest. These tests are just to see that you match up to the hand eye co-ordination needed to fly airplanes and if you can react quickly to changes. These are required for instrument flying skills. The memory tests are to check your retention power for clearances and read back of numbers and not to forget checklists and procedures.
Good Luck :ok:

fromdgrndup 15th Sep 2015 02:44

Just imagine if you were HR and had, along with interviews a whole bunch of other work to do.. Would you like to be sitting by the phone answering or go around doing your job.
Remember its a professional job you are applying for. You need to prove your responsibility and aptitude for taking responsibility of a lot of lives sitting behind you when you get on board.
Quite frankly, managing to delete your application just shows carelessness on your part. Qualities which I'm sure they are not looking for in their future pilots. Kinda portrays you in a negative light already.
I remember being told that they know what they are doing and know when to send out what emails and to whom and don't need us bothering them when they are doing their job and also that any attempts to contact them about the status of ones application would negatively impact it.
There is no harm in trying to go and inquire but you asked for an opinion and the fact is they have more people who were careful enough in filling up their application and making sure to see everything was correct and not deleting it.
Give me one reason why one should be called to prove themselves when they have already proved their ineptitude.

Sorry for being so crude.

The only way out for you is to see if the system over time forgets your application and lets you apply again. They should have a 6 months buffer which would be time enough to update your qualifications in their view.

CptWizard 15th Sep 2015 04:54

fromdgroundup, thanks for your input.

the next 2~3 weeks wait is gonna be a torturous one, we'll see how it goes then!

Add:

Although I must say, it's truly going to take nothing short of a miracle for the rest of my other sections to pull this one up.

Harrier86 17th Sep 2015 06:07

Hey CptWizard,

Maybe you are in another session for the 2nd interview?
Hence the late email notification.
My personal opinion. ;)

orophin 18th Sep 2015 22:00

It think there will be more than 1 tea party. They would probably need multiple rounds of interview batches to fulfill their needs over the next 1 year.

No news is good news. I thought i messed up some of the aptitude test sections but i received the good news. Rather than beating up yourself over it, keep your chin up and be patient.

How old are you CptWizard? Perhaps if you are below the minimum age, there will be delays in giving you the news of your results.

tubbies 21st Sep 2015 03:55

Hi all. I decided to contribute since these forums along with the hardwarezone forums have been of great help to me the past few weeks.

I've been called up for the second round of interview consisting of written essay, panel interview and tea party on the 29th of September.

My background is as such:
Business degree from a local uni
No flying experience
28 years old this year

First interview was supposed to be on 29th Aug but got postponed to 4th Sept.

Did my aptitude test on the 15th Sept.

Hope this helps and good luck to everybody trying their best to get selected :ok:

wonderland 21st Sep 2015 12:28

Noted with thanks! :ok:

noddynoddy 21st Sep 2015 12:42

Tubbies, do you know anybody else in the 15th sept aptitude batch who got any response?

kuboring 21st Sep 2015 14:22

Tubbies, Noddynoddy: check your PM!!!

tubbies 21st Sep 2015 14:30

Nope sorry. I didn't exchange contacts with the guys I met during the aptitude test

orophin 21st Sep 2015 15:38

I did my aptitude test on the 15 Sep (PM session) too and received the notification for the third round on the 29 Sep. Fingers crossed~~

Harrier86 22nd Sep 2015 01:27

Hello,

I went for the 15 Sept Aptitude test PM session too but I have the 2nd interview scheduled on 23rd instead. Strange.

noddynoddy: I sent you a pm on HWZ forum regarding your question. :)

CloudFly 25th Sep 2015 12:30

There was someone on HWZ who received an invite for first interview on 3-Oct.

It has started again! :D

game454 26th Sep 2015 04:44
