wonderland 19th Aug 2015 10:04

Dates were mentioned during the aviation open house.

durrrr 20th Aug 2015 02:16

Hi all,

I've received an email from SIA that I'm shortlisted for the first interview. Any tips on how to prepare for it?

kuboring 20th Aug 2015 03:49

Hi guys, I just recieved an email shortlisting me for an interview. I submitted my application pretty early, on 31 July, so I might be part of the first tranche of interviewees. Hope this info helps for those still waiting, very best of luck!

passionate.aviator 20th Aug 2015 09:04

Hi @durrrr and @kuboring. congrats for being selected for 1st round of interview.

@durrrr may i know when did you submit your application?
regarding the tips u should be prepared very well about whatever you have mentioned in your resume. and also be prepared to answer any question about SIA or its subsidiaries and current affairs. especially questions like why you wanna be a pilot and they may ask you to prove ur passion for flying. you need to justify and convince them how badly you wanna be a SIA pilot.

Nicolaas900816 20th Aug 2015 09:52

Is this only for Singapore citizens?

Congrats to those who got shortlisted for the 1st interview! I heard from a captain at the aviation open house saying there are about 2000 applicants to date..

I have myopia but still satisfy the requirements of <500 degrees. Should I be getting an optometrist report or something for the 1st interview?

apparently yes.

"Original report by a qualified doctor (an optician report will not be accepted) for visual acuity eye-test with and without optical aids (Snellen's Chart) and colour vision test (Ishihara). The cost of the eye-test and colour vision test will be on your own account."

CloudFly 21st Aug 2015 01:39

@passionate aviator

From what I read in this thread, there is an eye clinic beside the interview rooms right? Can I do the tests on the day of the interview because I would think it is more convenient and probably cheaper?

i dont think its a good idea. what if there are 100s like you who wanna do their tests there and there is a long queue. just get it done out here and have all the required documents in hand when u go to the venue. just before the interview you should be sitting relaxed and waiting for your turn rather than rushing to get your eye tests done.

Yup, I just got my eyes checked at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Cost me $110 for the tests.

Jezza88 21st Aug 2015 05:31

Hi guys, just wondering whether anyone has any recommendations on which doctor to go to for the eye test. Thanks!

The interview dates for SIA cadet pilots is from 29th aug to 5th sept for the upcoming batch. Not sure about future batches.

I've got a friend who has got the 29 aug slot after submitting application during the nat day weekend.

hi RedDevil9. so far all the guys discussing on hardwarezone say their interview is on 29th aug. so maybe sia is still in the process of sending out emails to rest of them? i meet all the requirements but didnt receive any email yet.

Jetstorm 21st Aug 2015 10:31

Hey RedDevil9, where did you get the information that the interview is taking between 29 Aug to 5 Sept?

kuboring 21st Aug 2015 12:43

DIRECTORY OF DESIGNATED MEDICAL EXAMINERS OF CAAS This might be useful for those looking to get the eye report :)

CloudFly 21st Aug 2015 15:41

I submitted my application on 19-Aug, so I guess there probably would be a waiting period.

@passionate aviator: I believe you will get called up don't worry!

Flyboysg 21st Aug 2015 16:53

I know a friend got his interview call up too. Good luck to everyone going for it!

Most probably they are still filtering out the best and not rejecting anyone that meets the minimum criteria yet. Those called on the 29th are mostly degree holders and above and are around 24 to 26 years old.

One of my SIA friends told me. Most probably weekend would be ideal as weekdays people might be working or smth.

CloudFly 25th Aug 2015 14:59

Anybody has got called up for first interview (second batch)? So far those that got called up are around 25.5 years of age.

Wow second batch called for interview already? I submitted on 3rd of August. Prob much lower chances for me since I'm 30 despite my previous flight experience

CloudFly 26th Aug 2015 01:53

No I was just asking if there were any. I am 30yo too, so probably less chance. Plenty of young bloods around for SIA to choose from.. :ugh:

passionate.aviator 26th Aug 2015 02:21

Im 29. 30 is not too old guys. i m sure SIA will at least give you the chance for interview. to get in the list for 2nd interview you gotta convince them irrespective of your age.

CloudFly 26th Aug 2015 02:48

If you take a look at the hardwarezone SIA cadet pilot thread, those who got called up are typically 25.5yo with engineering degrees. So I think there is actually a hidden preference. Nevertheless, I still hope the older birds get a chance for interview!

yeah correct. i m sure we will be called up for interview for 2nd batch. its on the way.

fromdgrndup 27th Aug 2015 00:56

This is how I feel it goes. All the resumes that are submitted are ranked based on meeting the requirements. Now I'm not too sure what exactly they look for in a resume but the general trend is a strong O level followed by a degree. Now your resume has a ranking in their database, if another resume surpasses yours in their requirement criteria, then you are bumped down their list. They then send out emails to the top of the list and if you make it in there then you get an interview call. If not, then you are still not rejected. Its just that you are further down the list. If no strong resumes make it up the list then you still have a chance of getting called up in subsequent rounds. In the past some people have been called up even 6 months after submitting their resume. The times I have heard of a rejection email is after the first round when they let you know if you made it through or not.

Good Luck to you guys... :ok:

watsup123 27th Aug 2015 01:40

Hi, could someone advice me. If Im currently 31 now, and turning 32 towards the end of december, what are my chances of getting called up for an interview? Is the unofficial 32 years cut off age at the point you turn 32, or the day before your 33rd bday? Thank you!

Harrier86 27th Aug 2015 07:29

Hello all,

Something strange happened.
I was scheduled for the 29th Aug interview but I just received a call informing me that my interview has been postponed to 4th Sept.
I asked what was the cause of it and the reply was "unforeseen circumstances".
Anyone experienced similar situation? D:
I really liked it to be on a Saturday so I do not have to take leave. haha
