when did you apply and when did you get the email holy?sadly, lots of us are still waiting.haha.welcome to the thread tho!

edwin2911 16th Mar 2010 06:01

hey guys,

Just got a reply from SQ, my 1st Interview didn't pass.

Quite sad though, thought my questions were answered fairly well...i guess it could be the following reasons that i got flunked:

1) myopia ard 400+
2) got only diploma though finishing my deg this may
3) general knowledge and aviation knowledge not good enough
4) all of the above + there are more candidates better than me

Having all said, i didn't regret going for the interview as there was indeed a chance to change my life and i go for it but failed. But like what i've said in my earlier post, if i were to be rejected, i will rather be at the very first stage...at least wouldn't have wasted more time/effort.

Hereby, i wish all of you bros, good luck and hope that you all can achieve your dreams.

Godspeed and Take Care

Edwin

lifegps 16th Mar 2010 06:06

Just got the email confirmation to say I'm out.

I'll set a timer on MS Outlook to remind me to apply again in a couple months' time, I guess!

All the best to the other folks!

Macarto 16th Mar 2010 06:12

Thanks Autobrake for the clarification. Anyway i have heard many people talk about re-applying sometime later after their initial application failed. May i ask under what circumstances can one re-apply for that coveted position on the RHS?

Macarto 16th Mar 2010 06:26

Well articulated LifeGPS, do not let lose hope.

h0lym0use 16th Mar 2010 06:56

Thanks bogusrif! I applied in late jan and only last wk did i get the email for 1st interview. how about u?

bogusrif 16th Mar 2010 07:37

haha.oh dear.i applied on the 19th of feb.this might turn out to be a long wait for me.lol.

h0lym0use 16th Mar 2010 07:55

Don't worry bogusrif, there are people who applied later than me and gotten their interview before me. Take it as an advantage to you for you have extra time to prepare for the interview. :)

bogusrif 16th Mar 2010 08:26

hahaha.i like your positivity.I'm good.but this wait after uni graduation is a real bore.

sgcloudchaser 16th Mar 2010 09:46

tinybrain,
passing everything damn thing except the medical is damn gosh.
but try passing everything including the medical but not selected in the end.

Macarto 16th Mar 2010 10:07

Sgcloudchaser, are you referring to the Rsaf or SIA? Cause according to TinyBrain's Post, he got enrolled in SIA after his medical.

TinyBrain 16th Mar 2010 13:00

@macarto

I think sgcloudchaser is referring to some of them who already cleared the interviews and medical but never received the contract.

I know of someone in this forum who gotten this shxxt.. Hence, he kept asking around for contacts in the HR such as Joyxx or Edxxxx. The last I PM-ed with him, he was still hanging loose somewhere, around 6 months since his medical. Oh yah, he called up the medical centre and was told he cleared. :oh:

DLWL 17th Mar 2010 03:31

Requirements.

Hi guys,

previously i did mention that i failed my second i.view.

Maybe some of you are wondering about why u failed.

Well what i can tell you all for sure is
They are not looking for rocket scientists.
No need straights As etc.
I am a living example. I only have A levels
but was selected for 2nd round.

What they are looking for is really
1) passion and how you show it
2) your image- i guess, how you present yourself; confidence, analytical skills, situational awareness.
3) leadership- this is whr i scored well i guess. good past records of activites.
4) flying experience doesnt give you an edge also; you cld be a ppl or cpl holder, but if u were a member of the library club in school, i don't think they'd be impressed,

So answering the technical questions well doesnt really give u an edge or otherwise really. Coz i only had 1 technical questions and couldnt answer.

But really most importantly, how your present yourself and on the first look and few sentence of the i.view they must feel that you can be a pilot and the i.viewing pilot should want to fly with you. put yourself in their shoes and you will see wad they want.

2ndly,
i spoke to ed**** during my second i.view and confirmed with him that once you are called for medical. SIA has already accepted you.
Delays to confirmation can be due to several issues.

Underlying medical issues that, CAAS accepts but not SIA (not sure what these are.).
Security issues (just like how SAF posts ppl to the different units if you guys realise).
Employment and bond issues.
Course availability.
So i guess if there is no rejection then the chances of getting in is still very high. remember, SIA hires when they see the need to. I guess when they tell you that don't take it for granted that you are in the medical, they mean it that way.

but i do agree that keeping people waiting is really a sucky thingy. hopefully things will pick up soon.

all the best to you guys.

bogusrif 17th Mar 2010 03:36

thx for that DL.Hope you don't stop your dreams of getting into SIA too man.Just go at it again.Cheers!

sgcloudchaser 17th Mar 2010 17:40

Hi DLWL, thanks for sharing the info.
Just that I am not too sure if you are right to say that SIA has already accepted you if you are called for medical. Usually Wed is the 2nd round, and Thur call you up for medical on Friday. Within less than a day they could not have time to decide to offer which applicant. In theory they may have accepted you but they have not offered you a contract.

Cleared medical

Hi All,

This is my first post so warm greetings to all fellow aviation enthusiasts. Many thanks and appreciation to the previous contributors... it has been very helpful and resourceful to me.

Last thurs, I received the best 4 words I've ever heard " Go for your medical".

The medical lasted the full morning and now the wait begins. Anyone else cleared medical and waiting for HR to come back?

For those going for your 1st or final interviews, good luck and stay positive!

Best Regards,

Maestro

bogusrif 23rd Mar 2010 09:12

dan34 23rd Mar 2010 10:20

Congratulations Maestro! Hope you get the nod soon!

hectigol 23rd Mar 2010 15:20

Hello everyone,

I'm a late bloomer, am 25 this yr and woke up way too late in life. Got into a local poly and will be completing my IS/IT degree in a couple of months time.

I have 6 'O level' credits but science is not one of them, am strong in physics but weak in chemistry, that resulted in a combined science grade of D7.

I have the intention of retaking my 'O level' science to meet the prerequisites however there is another clause which states "must be in one sitting".

Does that mean that unless I retake my entire 'O levels', I'm still considered a  case even with better science results in another sitting?

Thank you.

vinesh22 23rd Mar 2010 17:39

As far as I know, you don't have to. Your degree is more than enough dude, cheers! :ok:

bogusrif 23rd Mar 2010 18:31

actually i'm hearing mixed comments about this hectigol, so I can't really comment much about it.Sorry man.

sgcloudchaser 24th Mar 2010 02:52

in my understanding, yes "in one sitting"
you may ask why is this a "requirement" even if you may have a degree or diploma.
the "one sitting" criteria actually is to gauge how you can perform on the ground school where you have to tackle many subjects/papers concurrently within a very short time frame. also physics represents many topic cover in the ground school thus it's an issue of relevancy.
this is my past understanding, now may have changed.

evis 24th Mar 2010 15:37

hey maestro, that means you were in the wed 2nd int, you are?

joshielim 26th Mar 2010 09:49

Hope to hear good news from you after the 7th!

Macarto 3rd Apr 2010 13:51

Hi guys. Have been reading up on this thread lately and have noticed that many people are going to try and apply again in a year or so. So what are the conditions for an applicant to eligible to re-apply?

ruu_1982 4th Apr 2010 11:29

hi all!!
I received a confirmation email for cadet pilot interview recently. however, in preparation for the interview, i do have 1 main concern. i am 27 years old and have worked in a local company for 2+ years as a systems administrator. judging from the previous posts and feedbacks, i think i am going to be grilled with the question on why only apply as a cadet pilot now?

just wondering how would you all have approached this question? i am sure many of us have worked in the commercial world for a few years before deciding to give SIA cadet pilot a try.

nt.pilot 4th Apr 2010 12:03

Is it possible to apply for this if we are 'eligible' to be a singaporean permanent resident??? i am australian but can be a resident if needed! i'll do anything lol

joshielim 4th Apr 2010 13:59

hi dan sorry to hear about that... yep try again and don't lose heart.. all the best in your career path in life

autobrakes3 4th Apr 2010 15:10

@Ruu_1982

seriously 2 years of working experience won't get you grilled on that question. Many guys have worked for a longer period than you since leaving poly. In fact as far as I can recall, there are two guys who were medical doctors before joining the company. From that profession to this, it deserves "grilling". :)
Besides, your response to questions should be honest. No point copying what others have said right?

@nt.pilot

singapore PR? you re most welcomed! We have an influx of "foreign talents" these days anyway. If you want to be a resident instead, I am pretty certain you have to undergo national service first.
