😂Trust me no one from mainland is offended if they ever worked in a local airline company. We’re just being extremely grateful for this opportunity. For a cadet in mainland from China Air or Air China( I’m kinda confused which one is correct) his salary is about 6000HKD/month for the first 6-12months after signing the work contract. I used HIS because they cadet program in mainland usually don’t give opportunity for female.
just needs to be more accurate “the right to work in HK or Mainland China” so the PR isn’t necessarily a must.

Air China Group or China Aviation Corp.(correcting my previous comment) is the parent company of Air China, and invested into CX. This is also not on topic but some 6-7 years ago, I HEARD (cannot verify) they were willing to pay foreigners 300K HKD monthly tax free if you were a Captain, to be on 737s... then the sino-US trade war happened..

As a mainlander, another thing about our system here is that CAAC does not recognize any other ICAO English certification except CAAC’s ICAO exam which is also a very discriminating test since the scoring will based on your citizenship, only if you’re from an English speaking country then you may get a 6. Otherwise, your maximum will be 5.
Being a foreigner or let me put it this way “a non-mainland Chinese citizen”, you would have some perks in some cases compared with the locals. Especially in aviation field, no extra unnecessary work such as study some certain stand of you know what regularly. A relatively fair contract, since you will not be offered a contract that needs you to work for one company for your whole life. Some Cadets here won’t even see how long would they serve when they signed the contract and some cadets’ contract is “unlimited” meaning that you will need to work there your whole career. If you want to resign or switch to another company, you have to pay a few millions of HKD unless you resign because you can’t fly due to your physical condition.

Hi guys,
Just curious what are the chances for an AUS national (22yo) with a CASA PPL license to be considered for the CX cadet programme?
Finished all cpl theory and currently in the process of completing atpls. Clocked just over 150hrs in the logbook.
I understood I only need "the right to live and work". But have there been any recent occurrences where CX has fully funded a foreign national?
Any insights are much appreciated.
Clear skies and tailwinds!

Clear skies and tailwinds!
- CX is bleeding with experienced pilots due to toxic work culture, condesending pay system known as POS 18, insecured T&C
- Demands are on guys who have wide body jet time, not P2X.
- They need experienced pilots, not cadets, not SOs.
- CX is turning itself to a Chinese Airlines by opening the iCadet scheme to Chinese Nationals which has never been done before.

CX do have cadet who either PR or Mainlander, although the term “right to live and work in HK” is somewhat vague, but I can ensure you that you don’t need to be PR to apply.

The catch is:
A) You will given a training loan which amounts for 1 million hkd, and you will need to pay back by providing services for a minimum period of 6 years. By then, the loan will just go away.
B) You ARE NOT entitled to pilot allowance for the first three years of your employment which total of 504,000hkd, that accounts for half of the training fees.
C) No salary will be paid to you during a year long training. However, you will be given some allowance while you are trained in overseas. Again. this is not a full salary!
C) Based on the current pay system, after you are offered a position as SO1, your monthly salary is dependent on the hours you flown, the more hours you fly, the more money you make, similar to the pay system as Flight Attendants. (That's why they have pilots who deliberately taxing at a slow speed in order to bill more hours)
D) P2X is the flights hours created for cruise relief pilots. It is not internationally recognizable. If there are 2 SOs on the flight, your hours will be slashed by half. Refer to CAD54 if you wanted to know more.
E) No housing allowance will be given to you. You need to figure out how to make a living on a 33k ish salary in Hong Kong. (Hence many SOs or even FOs have a second or third job)

Hi, Appreciate your response. What do you mean by not allowed a pilot allowance, Does that mean I will not be getting paid for the first three years I work with them?
Thanks

Now, from Flight Crew Recruitment perspective, they can still say, it is a fully sponsored program, and you don't have to pay a dime for it. But is it? You be the judge.

Drug Screening
Hello fellow cadets, I’ve been accepted however, a friend of mine hasn’t… this is really just a question about the drug screening.. he passed everything but made the silly mistake of smoking cannabis on a trip overseas not knowing he would have made it all the way to the medical.. great guy and dumb mistake.. it’s obviously taking a toll on him mentally and I wanna help him out as much as I can, does anyone know if they reconsider such cases? In a sense reapply and do the whole process again? Will/could he even be considered..?

On the surface: It's a fully sponsored program, that means you don't have to make any down payments upfront.

Hello, I have read a lot of previous posts and have a couple of questions.
1) How Long does it take to go from second officer to FO, as some are saying even 6 to 7 years? I know there is a certain hour requirement but do you become a FO as soon as you reach that requirement or no...
2) What does P2X stand for, I am aware its the hours as a second officer but is that entirely correct?

2) P2X = Cruise relief co-pilot. If you hold a P2X rating, which is what you will have as an SO, you can only operate the aircraft above 20,000 feet under the supervision of the pilot in command or a delegate. The reason P2X is a problem is that very few carriers outside of CX recognize these hours. Which means that if you are stuck as an SO or find the job not to your liking, it will be very hard if not impossible for you to leave.

CX ICAO English preparation
Hello guys
I would like to hear any detailed advice or actual problem information about CX ICAO English Exam on the cadet pilot selection..
Even though I searched and read the official website of IAE CLEAR, I couldn't clearly grasp exactly what the actual ICAO test in CX will be held..
I'd appreciate any information about the test and tips.
Thank you in advance.

Cost of the cadet program
Hello. I want to ask about the cost for the cadet program. In the job post, it mentions that training for the license is sponsored. What about other costs, such as accommodation at flight school? How much would it be and will it be paid by the cadet? Thank you.
