Last night (22-08-09) at around 19:15 as we were getting ready to go from Jo'burg Int'l, all the fire trucks raced out to the runway. Few minutes later an Airbus (I think) came past on the runway...

The RJ is a much more modern aircraft. The avionics are upgraded to full EFIS with FMS. Think the engines also bit bigger.

I can't see it being illegal. The CAA will not put it on your licence and a GR1 instructor will not sign you out as P1 on the aircraft if it is not 100% legal.
