Their intention is to meet or exceed all of the CS-27 requirements for HC50, and to meet or exceed almost all of them for HX50 too.

I suspect that, if you applied for a replacement UK licence then it would have your 'original' UK licence number. If so, then your old FAA 61.75 certificate would automatically spring back into life....

Rather than an NPPL, why not go for the almost identical LAPL. Much the same but it leaves you the option of upgrading to a PPL in the future, which the NPPL (currently) does not.
