Pulmonary fibrosis and aviation?

A relative is suffering from Pulmonary fibrosis. He has had a long flying career as a pilot, first in the RAF and then in the airline business.

We are trying to identify any possible causes.

Somewhere in the theory there is a frequency effect. This means you can go over the PCN limit as long as you don't do it too often. If you operate daily then the ACN/PCN limits are enforced more.
