North

As the only Northerner (Cheshire for BEagles benefit) on my Vulcan crew I can assure you that they reckoned that the North started at Watford! They were navigators etc. so knew about these things.

Regarding where the Saarf ends and 't Nawth begins, my rule of thumb is that a line between the mouth of the River Welland just south of Boston, across to Welshpool is roughly the border:

North of that line the world turns grey and grim, with clogs, shawls, whippets and racing pigeons much in evidence, tha' naws - whereas south of the line it's the land of milk and honey....and lager shandy....innit?

Frankly the idea of leaving the comfort of Zone 2 to anywhere in any direction is enough to bring me out in shivers. Do you even know how much garlic, holy water and smallpox infested blankets I need to pack in order to survive a trip to Zone 3? :-)

North ... the world turns grey and grim,...
Like I said. Banbury.

I'm wary of Bicester too. Although that may be more down to Bicester itself.

As a Jock, I was always mildly amused by references to Blackpool being in 'The North'.

If God was going to give the World an enema, he'd stick the tube in Blackpool.

Anything closer to the Pole Star than the Loire Valley is "north".

Now, here's proof of something I've always suspected. The picture in Coff's post clearly shows a Red Arrows pilot holding his remote control box, looking at his dented aeroplane. I just knew that's how they did it.

Tashengurt, to far south for me, and I'm not talking as a skirt wearing separatist, though if you are indeed from Newcastle, you're to far east for my home town

Bend the pitot back into line and speed tape the hole, job done...

North? You guys are not even close, we have places in Canada that no matter which way you face, its all South! As for the "Massive " bird strike, in fact its not as bad as many by any means, enough to get ones attention, but by no means "Massive", and much nicer than those which go into the engine intakes.

Nutty ... Clearly I would have over engineered the fix ... I was thinking more of a good blob of Isopon and some Wet-n-Dry
