Creating a local copy of a forum

I need to capture a certain forum (not pprune or anything like it) so I can have a copy on my PC.

The reason is that it is a useful resource and I'd like to preserve it.

Unfortunately it isn't...

UK flying mags versus US flying mags

For example Flying www.flyingmag.com is $41 for two years including airmail to Europe. This is a vastly more informative mag than anything in the UK, packed with latest products, avionics, instrument...

I was asking what it might have been about the flight that could have caused the CAA to prosecute (successfully) that school for not having an AOC.

The destination airport was a proper one, taking...

Just stumbled across this thread.

I am not an instructor, but it's fairly obvious from almost any UK flying school that most trial lessons are time wasters as far as training is concerned. Usually...

Someone mentioned a radar altimeter.

On "private" instrument approaches, are the CAA-authorised operators required to use a radalt? That would seem most unusual. Even Cat 2 and Cat 3 approaches do...

Thanks for the link. Looks like it's Euro 289 for Europe, and interestingly this data extends beyond their printed VFR/GPS chart coverage.

I wonder if this stuff works on Flitemap (GPS moving map).

FFF, I agree. That's why one should always carry the Pooleys book, the UK IFR touring guide (if one has the instrument option, even if flying "VFR"), and of course a moving map GPS .

Looking at the pricing of the products, this is a fine example of a cynical marketing strategy. Jeppesen can do this because nobody else has the data.

The Bottlang trip kits just contain airport diagrams and circuit patterns, with local VRPs which ATC might ask you to report at, plus contact details and such like. There are no en route charts.

I'd set 7700 immediately, that will raise alarms all over the place, both in the UK and in France. The Mode C altitude going down at some 1000fpm will also make it obvious to all what's happening.

I'd read the German AIP, not some note on a Jepp chart. An unqualified mandatory 2000ft min level for VFR has to be nonsense, especially given the term "cross country" (what does it mean?).

That proposal is dead and always has been, more or less. The IMC Rating works well in the UK, and nothing short of a full IR will ever get agreement among EU member states.
