I wholeheartedly support the pilots stance & I'm a CSD on longhaul. I realistically know that when we have our next IA, we may not get the same support in return, but even so, I'm 100% behind our "drivers".
Bearing in mind that within the flying community, its a standing joke that our managers & those at waterworld only work (attend?) Mon-Fri, I'm not sure how much impact a protest march on a Saturday will achieve.
All the best,
Matt.

1,000 turnout I'm told by a friend on the march. No uniforms as BA threatened them with disciplinary action if they wore them and they have been threatened with tresspass if they enter Waterside.

Well done SN, a typical glass half empty comment, on the BBC website both actions have the same prominence.
I was on the picket line at Manchester at the last shindig in the late 70s where only the "Klingons" went to work. (Don't ask it's a long story!)
We had the best period of industrial relations thereafter which by and large got the BA pilot force a long way towards where they are today in terms of pay and conditions, the company realised that BALPA meant business.
I wish my former colleagues the best of luck and hope that it will finally bring the suits to their senses.

Not to worry, Iva. 1150 people made it (according to the Met Police) and they got back to the hotel in time for the rugby.

It wasn't planned as a rally. It was going to be the first day of the strike...BA have temporarily stalled that with the injunction threat but that will be batted out of court fairly soon.
The rally served its purpose- it sent a message to the LT and more importantly, was a demonstration of unity and solidarity. With calm steely resolve we will win this thing and we will win it together,
Heartfelt thanks aswell to the AA pilots for their support today.

Never have, never will.
BALPA is, more or less, finished...for all practical purposes.
No one really cares, anyway.

I think that it is important for all of us that The BA pilot workforce stick this one out. You just have to look at what has happened in Aus with the birth of Jet Star. It would seem that any career progression for Fos in Qantas is all but over. Same happened in the US with American Eagle. If the Openskies pilots are not on the BA seniority list then in the future Ba can expand through Openskies paying half the wages they pay mainline pilots and stopping any expansion at BA mainline. With BA being the best payed pilots in the Uk it is a benchmark for the rest of us to aim for in our negotiations with our companies various. The lower the benckmark the lower the outcome of any negotiations.
We all need to get behind the BA pilots and hope that they win this one. They have already bhad to give up a lot of their pension rights. As has been sated before BA are making a lot of money at the moment, and it seems to be their staff who are paying for it.

Are you BA chaps confident that your workforce will stick together in the event of a strike? Last time round you caved in after a much higher percentage of pilots voted for strike action, with much more clear cut and pressing issues. Why will it be any different this time round?
WW is a sharp cookie. If the High Court Injunction fails and BA Management refuse to back down, I would assume they are confident that they can defeat the strikers.
I would be quizzing my BALPA reps VERY closely in the run up to any action.
Good luck to all involved, here's wishing for a negotiated solution.

your right IVA , 411A knows nothing......a bitter little man in the usa whos opinion is irrelivant and worthless. Do yourself a favour and join the band of people who have blocked him, all his bitter little rants are then removed from the thread automatically.....sheer bliss!! :-)
