I've tried to read the complete thread, but with this many pages, surely I've missed something. Are there any copies of the G2 operating in the US?

I've not been able to attend Heli-Expo. Has it been shown there?

Spunk 18th Apr 2013 08:58

Cabri in the US

Hi rotorfan,

there aren't any Cabri G2 s in the US as the helicopter hasn't been certified by the FAA so far. But I'm sure that will change pretty soon.

Buttocknurdler 18th Apr 2013 21:52

In the photo above, the rotor blade appears to have been fitted the wrong way round! I thought the rotor turns clockwise when viewed from above.

helihub 18th Apr 2013 23:08

Buttocknurdler - I agree, I think it's been mirror-imaged. From this shot below, you can see it's the right way round from the GUIMBAL text below the rotorhead, and that the blades turn clockwise when viewed from above

Northern Helicopters in Sweden claim that they already have reached 4000 hrs in the Cabri so they might be able to give you some info?

Talk to the owner, Mikael Randhem.

HeliHenri 20th Apr 2013 10:48

Hello earborn,

You're lucky to live in NZ, first because it's a very nice country and then because as you said, there're G2 flying in NZ.;)

One private and 3 operated under part 135.

There'll be 2 more G2 at the end of august.

Here a very well detailed NZ report about the G2 (page 13 to 16) with one flight test plus pilots and the private owner point of view : http://www.kiwiflyer.co.nz/KiwiFlyer...0-Complete.pdf

Friedricschafen Aero Show

Guimbal are putting on a big marketing push at Friedricschafen later this week.

I have heard that there will be some interesting announcements too.

It's great to see a 21st Century training helicopter in service.

cyclic_fondler 24th Apr 2013 08:10

Has Mr Guimbal made any hints about developing a 4 seater version?

I'm sure that would ruffle a few feathers in the Robinson camp !

Isn't he going to be concentrating on the UAV version? (The real money spinner!)

Yes, he has.:E

HeliHenri 24th Apr 2013 10:02

As Bruno tries to produce the best possible aircraft, he was concentrating on the sole real disadvantage reported by the G2 pilots: vibrations at high speed.

But it was until now :ok: : Guimbal addresses Cabri vibration issue at 90-100 knots | Helihub - the Helicopter Industry Data Source

He can now, concentrate on others goals. One of them is indeed the G4 : LoopTV.Aero
But of course we'll have to wait a little bit, it took Frank 14 years (after the R22 first delivery) to deliver the first R44.

G4

Well, he says it would be a nice idea for him but he has no plans at the moment.
2S

HeliHenri 26th Apr 2013 17:21

.
Well 2S, the monent you're talking about goes back 3 years ago ;). Maybe an idea can become the beginning of a project in 3 years ...

.

2Sticks 26th Apr 2013 21:36

Well, it would be great to see a rival to the R44 eventually! :ok:
2S.

John R81 28th Apr 2013 12:44

No, I would rather a 4 or 5 seater with the RR300 turbine. That would draw sales from R44, R66 and EC 120 potential owners. I think that would be a much better commercial option.

And please, please can we have such a massive excess of power that we can load 5 seats, luggage and a full fuel tank then still safely pull a vertical departure from a confined area. Stop making machines that are under-engined / transmission to use their potential.

Hughes500 28th Apr 2013 14:03

John

Now you are being silly in asking the obvious !!:ugh:

nightsta1ker 29th Apr 2013 03:43

John if you could engineer that then you would be one wealthy fellow.

From a New Zealand Cabri G2 Operator

We have recently taken delivery of a Cabri G2, no 43, and have put 80 hours on it for the month and we are very impressed with this helicopter.

This aircraft has exceeded our expectations. We have a lot of training and commercial experience and we are thrilled with the decision to go with the G2. This aircraft is what helicopters are all about.

New Zealanders are loving the Cabri and the Cabri is loving NZ. It will have a huge future here for people looking for the perfect 2 seat helicopter.

Bruno and his team at Guimbal need a huge congratulation, for designing and manufacturing such an impressive, safe and user friendly aircraft.

We are looking forward to the cargo hook arriving and being put to work. The installation of the VAP's will complete the ultimate package.

Shortly it will be externally lifting all forms of loads, conducting aerial shooting, assisting our fleet with commercial air transport and continuing with flight training.

We hope into the future that Guimbal can follow suit with a 4-5 seater, along the same lines as the G2. They would receive a firm order from us immediately. All the best Bruno Guimbal.

News from the East :

The aeronautical university of Vilnius (Lithuania) has just bought two G2.

Fully endorse your request for a RR300; 4/5 seater that can do the work. Have a look at the Composite Helicopter from NZ. Might just do the job, if they don't get taken over and put in the bottom draw by Eurocopter

Helinut 2nd May 2013 12:13

Has anyone started to do aerial photography/filming with the G2? My experience with 2 seat Heles (mainly the R22) was that they were not really suitable/good for this role. The G2 could be different..

I presume no mounts yet?

Peter3127 3rd May 2013 00:26

Love to see Guimbal and the NZ composites Adventourer team up to finalise the 5 seater. :8

HeliHenri 5th May 2013 16:46

.
In the next few months, we'll see G2's flying in four new countries : Poland, Italy, Portugal and China :)

G2 extended warranty

.
Guimbal has decided to extend the warranty period for all new helicopters from 2 years / 500 hrs to 3 years / 1000 hrs ,whichever occurs first.

Hughes500 15th May 2013 13:08

Does that include labour or just parts, if it is labour as well I will be buying 1 maybe 2:ok:

Spunk 15th May 2013 16:16

wow, now that's something to be considered in your business plan.:ok:

tegwin 16th May 2013 09:41

Anybody know what the delivery timescale is? If I ordered one today how long would it take to be delivered?

9Aplus 16th May 2013 10:04

Approx 8 month now :ok:

HeliHenri 23rd May 2013 10:11

Delivery timescale

.
About the delivery timescale and according to Guimbal, a G2 ordered today in standart configuration will be delivered between march and april of next year.

Sotiras is right saying that the production rate is increasing so the delivery timescale should decreased unless the orders stay as strong as now !

H500, you should not waste time anymore ! ;)

No one answered the H500s question.

HeliHenri 23rd May 2013 14:31

Hello 500e,

That's kind of you to look after your brother H500 ;)

I answered by PM.

The warranty is still parts only but as the operators feedbacks about reliability are very good and for this reason the backlog is increasing quickly as well as the delivery time, H500 should not wait too long if he wants his customers flying the G2 next year. :)

Hello Peter,

You would prefer the opposite ?! ;)

Two solutions : the cockpit is quite spacious or ... it's a Hobbits' crew ! :=
.

Matari 4th Jun 2013 21:56

And compared to the elegant Cabri, the R22 looks like a Dalek!

Whoosh!

(Although, that's probably a bit harsh on HeliHenri. Do you have Dr Who en Francais?)

Peter3127 5th Jun 2013 11:06

Well spotted Dr Who fans.

Excuses-Henri. C'était une blague au sujet de la série télévisée "Dr Who".

I love the Cabri and look forward to owning one.:)

HeliHenri 5th Jun 2013 12:15

Well done gentlemen ! :D

There is indeed Dr Who in France but I don't follow him so I asked one of my best friend who is specialist (easy for him, his wife is English and was afraid of Daleks when she was young) and I've got the point now : the TARDIS ! :ok: (without high-absorption stroking-seats) :}
