And the pilot's door pops open in flight just like a Jetrangers! (2:15)

rjtjrt 24th Jun 2013 06:25

If the door is being held open on purpose, I wonder whether the structural integrity of the cabin safety cage is compromised by the door being open (or off), in case of a hard landing or crash?
The Cabri manufacturer seems to have taken a lot of care address safety, and would be interested if they have any information about this.

Not too many helicopter types come to mind where the door is part of the structure. No doubt there can be certain panels required for flight. Most door removal restrictions are an aero thing.

If it did it would probably look like the door on a pressurised aircraft!

I have yet to see an F1 with doors!

Helicentre Aviation and the Cabri G2

.
Helicentre Aviation in UK seems to enjoy the G2.

They will receive their second unit in few weeks and their third one in January.

They indend to order their fourth one at Helitech in September and think they will have six G2 by 2015 !

Saw one fly over yesterday in Hawkes Bay, NZ. Amazingly quiet little machine - the fenestron makes a difference, not too often when a helo flies overhead that you can hear engine noise!

Helicentre Aviation in UK seems to enjoy the G2.
Very impressed so far having flown over 600 hours since last Autumn in the one machine. The pendulums have made a massive difference at higher speeds, and flying with the door open has been a nice feature especially this last week!

Definitely the way forward in training, hence the plans to expand the fleet. We'll have one on display at Helitech if anyone wants to have a look.

How much does a new G2 cost and is it available in the USA?

A document from 2009 must be a bit out by now..... I don't know how much the 2200hr overhaul costs, but the first Cabri overhaul was estimated at three weeks duration only (see here) so it's got to be a good deal less than the Robbo equivalent

At the point the first two Cabri overhauls were done in recent weeks (both for Northern Helicopters in Sweden), I heard that analysis was done on operating costs from new, and both aircraft had come in at lower than earlier estimates. How much lower??

There was an S300 v R22 v Cabri comparison done recently in the UK too - perhaps Helicentre can help us on the results if there isn't a publication date embargo?

Hello tottigol,

The G2 costs around 290 000 € (250 000 £) depending of the equipments.

A dealer will be much more precise.

Not yet in the US. Two reasons according to Bruno : certification's cost and high insurance rates.

Hello KiwiNedNZ,

There are four G2 flying in NZ and two are expected to arrive next month.

I've seen in other threats that you're doing amazing pictures of helicopters :ok:

Do you have some of the G2 ?

KiwiNedNZ 21st Jul 2013 09:20

No not yet, supposed to go down and see Mark Law at Frontier and shoot their G2 sometime soon when I get the time.

Hello Sikorsky,

You can have air conditioning in the G2, much better than a fan ! :ok:

Here are some photos we've taken of our twins! We collected the new UK Cabri G2 from the factory last week. It will be on display at Helitech next month.

Are the windows tinted on the Cabri?

All the pics I've seen suggest there is no, or very little, tint.

I am tempted to say that you are a man of taste ! :ok:

P.S : Can we say that in English ?...

FLY 7,

The windscreen is not tinted but we've never really had any problems with glare. Mind you excessive sunshine is not really an issue in the UK!!!

Hello Helicentre,

Nice pictures !

Can you confirm that your twins will become triplets in few months and quadruplets later ? :D

as350nut 6th Aug 2013 23:11

OK So how do the handling wheels work, doesn't seem to be any handle like on the Robi, or are they like the H500 /as350 where you remove the handle after its over centre and locked down?

Matari 7th Aug 2013 00:49

Not sure about the Cabri, but it's always best to remove the handle for safety reasons -- in case the pin fails and the weight forces the wheel back to the stowed position, flinging the handle through something or someone.

chalmondleigh 7th Aug 2013 07:07

Early production Cabris had a removable handle and locking pin. Current production Cabris have ground handling wheels with removable handle and an over centre lock. Much better.

Helicentre Aviation 8th Aug 2013 11:34

Hello Helicentre,

Nice pictures !

Can you confirm that your twins will become triplets in few months and quadruplets later ?
Yes Henri, we have number three on order (due January 2014) and our intention is have a forth by late summer 2014 depending on production times.

The wheels and handle don't take up much space in the boot. They're inflatable treaded tires, quite easy to whip on and off and it's not heavy to push around by one person.

Not exactly a wise decision, considering the landing spot! Not much traction for those skids

Sorry about my English Bravo73 but I don't understand the meaning of your question, can you please reformulate or maybe there is a hidden meaning in it ?
