.38 cents today, down 12% for the day.....so I suppose we can expect at least a 10-1 reverse split.

Angel CHC Lay Offs

First, let me apologize for being away from the forum for so long. It's been an interesting time for me over the past 10 years and I have no real excuses for not being here other than I don't really give a f@ck sometimes! But I am back and retirement or semi-retirement has taught me a few things so please bear with me.

Everyone here seems to be concerned about the CHC stock Price and how well the new Management is doing to recover but few here are saying anything about the many long-term Pilots and Engineers that were Laid Off and have no hope of being re-hired.

I for one took an early retirement in the hopes it would stem the bleeding but I guess I was overly optimistic! I was the 2nd VP for the Union which was taken over by a few red-necks from south of the border who have no regard for labour laws in the Canadian sense. I am no longer in touch with anyone there so I can only assume that the American CHC has succeeded in getting rid of the GHPA.

For all you investors out there, I can only say that when I joined Okanagan Helicopters, 3 months before it became CHC or Canadian Helicopters back then, the initial offering was $10.00 per share and dropped to $0.30 a share. When the dust settled, it was $68.00 per share and split at $35.00 a share more than doubling the investment. CHC has the most Millionaire Secretaries out of any Helicopter Company in the World!

Anyone with comment, please feel free to throw in your 2 centavos worth.

No surprise since the Dobbin Kids were able to sell CHC to First Reserve for 4.2 Billion when it was only worth 2.5 Billion!

Any idea how a non-resident can invest in CHC? I've been looking but all options need Canadian or US residency.

This document came out a few weeks ago but to answer the question lets use an example, let's use CHC.

You own 10 shares worth a dollar each, you have therefore $10 worth of equity in a company The rules of the NYSE require the shares to be worth over a certain amount (in this case a dollar). You are at risk of breaching the rules, or in CHC's case, breaking them for an extended period of time.

The shares are issued by the company so the company are allowed to change the make up of the share structure. Therefore they say ok we'll give you 1 share in the new structure for every 10 under the old one. Before, you had old shares worth a dollar each and you had 10 of them, you now have 1 share worth $10. Your value is preserved but the structure of it is different. It's all about the ratios.

Now, what the paper linked above says is that CHC will do the stock reverse split but the ratio is yet to be determined as they do not know what the value of the stock will be on the day it is effected.

It is pointless saying today, "Let's do 1:10" if the closing price when the stock needs to be changed is 10c as you are no better off than before (ie complying or risking compliance with the rules). The ratio CHC will use will be decided at the board meeting although I'm sure their bankers have some ideas about optimum trading ranges for the stock.

Note the volatility will likely remain with fewer shares on issue (poss even get worse as less liquidity) and the fundamentals driving the volatility have not changed so expect a wild ride, just with a more expensive stock.

And yes Igor, I agree that the source of these woes was failure of FR to value CHC correctly and the subsequent debt being the crippling factor.

Another failure of the 'MBA' classes (don't get me started)...

More rounds of redundancies rumoured in Norway. It will takes pilot redundancies to over 50. In addition, newspapers report CHC have been ordered to pay 31 million kr in compensation following a court case to 10 pilots for unlawful dismissal due to age discrimination. Really dark days for CHC in Norway. Who could ever have seen this scenario just 2 years ago?

OK, easy to say (albeit your grammar is crap) and this is a rumour network - but I can categorically say your statement is complete and utter boll*cks if you are referring to anything other than Norway.

I don't doubt what you say may be correct in referring to the North Sea, but a blanket statement "anything other than Norway" is stretching it a bit. GO has just laid off 2 more in Nigeria, more expected in Romania and Gabon, possible in Miri. This, not to mention the official letter to crews to expect up to 30% reduction in Australia would not pose such a rosy picture....

Let's face it, CHC is in survival mode now and EVERYTHING is being considered to achieve that.

Feel free to quote me on that in the months to come!

I'm going to add to this by saying the current CEO is doing his very best to achieve it but it is pretty hard to produce a bouquet of roses out of a bag of S*** left to you by your predecessor.

I have said this to colleagues before, so they will all know who is posting this now, but if FR would have hired a homeless man off the streets of Vancouver and made him CEO he could not have done any worse than BA.

As someone who might end up homeless if employment case is not resolved before CHC/Dancopter/NHV goes 'belly-up' - I would appreciate it if you would leave us 'homeless' out of this mess!!!!

Before you get too caught up in your own victim culture...
I too lived in a council house, went to a secondary modern school (With an unfounded poor reputation), although I had both parents!

I had my pilot training paid for, but there wasn't much lucky about it. I took a risk and joined the Army as a private soldier, with the hope but no guarantee that I would pass aircrew selection, I did, then the hope that I would pass the following courses to actually make it on to a pilots course
Aircrewman Observer Course
Junior Cadre Course
Senior Cadre Course
None of which were 'just attend and you'll get through'
Finally, pilot selection and the Army Pilot Course.

A failure of any one of these (perhaps other than the Observer course, although it would not have been a good sign)! Would have meant that all that time in the Army was wasted (with regard to my initial aim of joining).

But you go ahead and continue deluding yourself if it makes you feel better!!!

if it makes you feel better, thank you so much for your positive repsonse to my post, but I truly suffered. You just have no idea. I had to wash toilets to raise the money for bus fare to get to the hangar to sweep the floors. I was sometimes allowed to lick the helicopter windows too. But that was only if i worked weekends. That north sea salt plays havoc wth your tongue and taste buds.
I can no longer taste much, but strangely enough I can smell bullsh*t quite often

I just happened to have had a spare 5 minutes, to practice my grammar. How am I doing by the way? Or is it "How am I doing?" by the way. ah who cares.



ps dont believe everything you read on an internet rumour network. Because if it was true then where would the fun be?
