So, has the PAOM been changed to allow planned extensions of FTL? When I was doing it, that wasn't permitted.
My understanding was that if you were airborne on a job which got extended, then you could use discretion but to launch knowing that you would need to extend was a no-no!

Discretion........... Interesting word, it infers a choice by the pilot. Does this mean NPAS can 'order' pilots to make the 'choice' to continue?????

Pilots' discretion is just that.
No-one can legally force a pilot to fly against his judgement, if he/she considers the flight cannot be safely made, for any reason (as per the requirements of the Air Navigation Order).
I've turned down a few "priority" jobs in my time, military, SAR, Police, Casevac and corporate/VIP (never without good reason, I might add) and occasionally made myself very unpopular by doing so. But from hard experience, if it all goes badly wrong, there's only ever one person carrying the can with regard to the ANO, the law and civil liability. The others involved always take very rapid backward paces to avoid any implication of responsibility.

Lets give a cough cough ahem 'hypothetical' situation. I, sorry, a pilot was on a roster that involved 10 hour shifts. Virtually every day for weeks, he finished late because of late jobs. He hardly ever got home on time and did not get any extra pay for the hours he was 'unofficially' working. Said pilot suggested that the shifts be changed to 12 hours, seeing as he was damn near doing that anyway. He was told...... No, it is too expensive. So he decided that if a job came in during the last hour, he would inform tasking of the time he would be landing at base with an allowance to put the aircraft to bed. Did they still want him to go? He rarely does discretion these days, his CHOICE, not theirs. He often feels very tired near the end of the shift.
Taskers. Want a good service????? Then pay for it.

SS it seems any posts will be filled well before we heAr about them, if past experience is anything to go by. Even if they are advertised if no one knows where the adverts are you can't apply.

Negative AoF, just wondering if anyone had heard any rumours
As F4F says, we are unlikely to hear about them through recognised channels.
Anyone have a clue how many jobs have been created (so far) since the formation of NPAS out of NPIA?

If anyone wants to get off the NPAS roundabout until the dust settles an police aviation opening has just become available in the Caribbean! They want a driver for an EC135T1..... blue and yellow so it will be just like home!
Vacancies
Mind you the vacancy is only there because an existing pilot is taking up a TRE post at Bond, so you can wave as you pass in mid-Atlantic!

At a guess - that'll be Oily Knight then - no?
The Q is - why is he going? I spoke to him about 4 weeks ago and he had only just signed another 3 yr contract with the cayman island Police.
£65000 tax free with only you and the UEO (ex E Mids) and the beach......
Mmmm - smells methinks...all is not well in paradise.

The advert did not make it clear whether the post was a new one or a replacement, but I guess replacement is most likely.
Of the 2 in-post, it is more likely that it was the "other" pilot going. He is ex-Bond and an existing TRE.
There was no mention of an upper age limit, but I guess it will still be 60.

Replacement. Not Oily!
You're starting to lose touch TC, UEO is ex-Lancs.
