When the Brent Spar was towed towards the Atlantic for "disposal" Greenpeace occupied it. This Photo shows the Sherrif's officers being lead to a Tiger in Stornoway to try and forcibly remove the protesters. The 212 was for back up.
I understand that the Brent Spar was not sunk in the Altantic, but towed to Norway for disposal.

G-BBHM

Some great photos of HM. It had a very colourful career for a 61 (North Sea, Falklands, Maldives on lease, Kosovo, & SAR). Real shame about it's sad demise!

Smile Rotorheads calendar September 2007

This month’s calendar uses one of the dramatic photos taken by AFCSoff at Silverstone this year.
His thread, with many other photos taken on the day, is here.

It was indeed Russ Smith who cut the top of S-61 G-AZNE.

Not a great quality pic but this was the result.

Very interesting about the dauphin N, Helikopter thanks for postiong. A few questions come to mind on top of how much time it took her to flip.

What was the cause ? (had to be something critical when you see how close land is from the heli)

Why did the pilots still take the time to brake the rotor and stop it the right position ?

Do you have other shots of it after a salvage (if it was taken to land) ?

It took the AC around 24 minutes to tip over.

The cause is still under investigation.
