Rotorheads Around the World (incl 'Views from the Cockpit')
BP,
You posted some excellent photographs of helicopters....really!
I much prefer your photos of people as you have posted in the past and were widely acclaimed by those who viewed them.
How about some more of the hangar staff?

The croatian operation...
Right! Those involved with good intentions, and an interest to develop a sound helicopter operation in Croatia worked their butts off to make this happen. What we did not consider was that we were mislead by a few persons on what the actual purpose was to establish the operation. I contributed to it by co-authoring a bloody JAR-Ops manual, apart from other activities, which kept me on my feet for 24/7/365.
Some folks quit their current jobs at that time because they, including myself, believed that this was a supreme concept. Just to find out later that our trust and loyalty have been abused, and sugar coated with all kind of bull****. And finally the sugar coated bull**** was what broke this concept's neck. That is the reason the helicopters got repo'd.
Not to mention that I had to chase them for my pay check. Enough said!!! I still could get temper tantrum when I think about it.
However, I must say that the conversion course, and the winch training was tops. Everything else was flops...
When I left the company, the BK 117 and the EC 145 still were parked outside in the grass in Lucko exposed to the weather elements.

Supposedly, the Croatian EC-145 (nowadays registered D-HDPP) might end up with the DRF Luftrettung in Regensburg (at least if the speculations on rth.info and helionline.de are anything to go by).

BastOn,
When BP posts some more of the photos I requested....you shall be proved very wrong on multiple counts. They are much more interesting than the aircraft!
I am old, but very definitely an Ex-Colonial as proved by history and commonsense.

I really like this thread - and some of the photos are staggeringly good. Lets keep them coming. Commonsense you mention. That is the good thing about this thread, full of commonsense, unlike a myriad other threads, where common sense seems to be overtaken by personal battles to gain oneupmanship - never mind the facts!!
PS - to let you sleep soundly I will agree that maybe, just maybe, you are an EX!!

Zlocko,
They sure do make the helipads rather small down those parts, don't they?
Why not just land on the apron in front of the tower?
Or is this the Croatian equivalent of "buzzing the tower"

Birddog,
Those shots are of what I know as "Roof Tops".....the landing of guys with guns on top of very small flat surfaces....usually done at night on NVG's putting just one skid or wheel on or just nearly on the surface. It can be good fun with some wind blowing and misty rain flying about. In the dark without any lights to help in seeing the wires and such.
