Crew meeting on heli deck

I guess the first German registered Helicopter in Ushuaia.

Was there for a MedEvac mission from the RV "Polarstern" waiting about 80 NM offshore.

@Hotzenplotz The "Bomb" is for measurments of earth magnetics. Approximately every 2 million Years the magnetic pole changes from North to South and vice versa. In the regions where two tectonic plates drift apart you have a lot of volcanic activity. When the magma becomes solid the direction of the earth magnetic fiel is stored. That thing can detect this stored magnetic anomalies. Out of this data you can calculate the annual drift of continents in the past and much more a simple pilotbrain doesn't understand
We have to fly pattern 80 NM, 80 kts GS, 100 ' AGL and 10 Km parallel to the first line back. We do 3 or 4 rotations a day (2 Pilots). The lines are given by the scientists and stored in a GPS. So we can cover an area big enough for studies.
Hope this helped a little.
It's a little boring that type of flying. You only see water. If you're lucky you may see some whales or dolphins.

Always happy landings

Here's my contribution

Greetings all. I'm just a plank driver but I found a guy giving tours of Royal Gorge in Colorado in a 206L and got the ride of my life.

Smile December 2006 calendar

Christmas snow comes courtesy of Andrew Mottram, SAR Aircrewman Supervisor for Bond Offshore Helicopters: Jigsaw SAR sitting in the snow, it reminds me why I don’t really miss the North Sea

By contrast, this photo taken in Wales during the summer just appeals to me Thanks to Pitch Link

I’ve upped the resolution of the calendars, they are now 1280 x 1024 and 1680 x 1050, to allow for the better monitors that Rotorheads are affording. The images will take a bit longer to download, especially for those on dialup. As usual, click on the image that you want to use, and that will open the full size image to "Set as Background" on your monitor.

cfit.night time medivac.branches through pilot chin bubble.tore of skid gear.lost r/h horizontal/vertical.hovered helicopter while doc, paramedic crewman got out.flew orbits of NZMS till emergency services could get the tyres in place so it wouldn't roll ova on landing.
v lucky crew.lost sit. awareness.in cloud.unsure of terrain altitude so pulled the club up.if hadn't they would have left a scar on the side of the rimutaka's.

...it's a result of the shutter design on the particular camera - not bendy blades. Cool pic though!

Next you'll be telling us that the 500 pic was loaded upside down and it was actually taken over snow covered mountains on a dark day.

The pic of the inverted 500C in New Zealand wouldn't be a screen capture from the video "Red Deer" would it...?
