22clipper, the helicopter is a Helipark HPC450 previously known as a WM50 and is a German ultralight helicopter.
There are some confusing parts to this story because the HPC450 is subject to a trade agreement between Germany and China so the guess is that a private buyer was trying to bring one to China but which is not to do with the trade agreement.

If you are interested in such things you might also like to look at the Belgian Dynali helicopter.

All this talk of the R22s demise and little 2 seaters popping up like mushrooms, an interesting world.
Deck landing trials in progress
As a helicopter landed firmly on the flight deck of the warship on August 6, China's new-type guided missile frigate "Bengbu" completed its helicopter landing training successfully.

Helicopter landing training needs to overcome the complex weather effects. The vessels must work with helicopters with precision, which poses higher demands for the commander. Field command Captain Huang Xuxian said that all the officers and soldiers onboard the warship had conducted special studies to develop more than 10 kinds of helicopters ship-surface security plans and contingency plans for handling the landing situation, and they soon mastered the helicopter landing training's procedures and points.
Guided by the tower and deck commanders' guidance, the helicopter landed on the flight deck. Furthermore, the ship organized many training subjects, including refueling, helicopters traction, rescue coordination of ships and planes and missile attacks under the guidance of helicopters.

You could do worse than visit the Heliservices HK Ltd website. No it is not mainland China, but yes, they do a great deal of long-line work with 4 x Lamas. \very professional company, and require the very best of team members. ~ CW

from who
Who are you hearing these stories from? A 21 year old Robbie pilot from Memphis, with a special place in his heart for pork dumplings? There are a !!!!load of airlines jobs there, more in fact than anywhere in the world. Helicopter jobs, no. China's airspace is controlled by their military. You need to file a request to fly one week before the flight and pay a large fee. You can see how that doesn't work. On Hainan Island they have just opened up the bottom airspace to civil aviation on pre-approved routes, but the only helicopters there are R44s doing sightseeing. There is one company I know in Harbin, far north-east with A Stars and Mil 8s but no one there speaks a word of English other than "USA OK". If you are S76 or 92 type rated there are a few jobs. Try China Southern Airlines for the 76 and China National Offshore Oil Corp for the 92s. You might be the only foreigner, but hey, that might be a good thing, if you're not a conversationalist.

Hey allwornout,
thanks for the reply!
That's exactly what I "know" - no type rating in 76 or 92 - so no go there.
The "supposed" jobs are long line (vertical reference) supposedly on AS350 type helicopters, "all over the place", but mainly in the NW.
I know of at least one pilot you actually was there last year, but he wouldn't talk, so....
Well, still looking forward to find out SOMETHING!!

China helicopter jobs.....where are they?
Any pilots they need for anything they get either company trained pilots or time served pilots from the PLA.
Airlines are different because of the overwhelming number of aircraft they have ordered or brought into service. The rotary world, now, or in the future is perfectly under control.
