from who

Who are you hearing these stories from? A 21 year old Robbie pilot from Memphis, with a special place in his heart for pork dumplings? There are a ****load of airlines jobs there, more in fact than anywhere in the world. Helicopter jobs, no. China's airspace is controlled by their military. You need to file a request to fly one week before the flight and pay a large fee. You can see how that doesn't work. On Hainan Island they have just opened up the bottom airspace to civil aviation on pre-approved routes, but the only helicopters there are R44s doing sightseeing. There is one company I know in Harbin, far north-east with A Stars and Mil 8s but no one there speaks a word of English other than "USA OK". If you are S76 or 92 type rated there are a few jobs. Try China Southern Airlines for the 76 and China National Offshore Oil Corp for the 92s. You might be the only foreigner, but hey, that might be a good thing, if you're not a conversationalist.
