I'm nearly 100% sure that the CAA won't let you retake the test, which I think is very unfair. I failed the beyne test in June in what I think was pretty unfair situation. The colour that they said was white was blatently not white. it was a very yellow beige, not the sort of dulux white i was expecting. I said it was yellow but as soon as I saw the real yellow in the test I knew I'd failed it.

I'm looking into doing a class 1 in france, its a JAA state and so the CAA have to accept it. Let me know if your interested.

Am I right in thinking that there are only four colours in the Beynes Lnaten Test, Blue Green Read and white? If so how did get a white and a yellow light, if you had passed the Beynes would you then have to take the Holmes Wright aswell? Also I read earlier int his thread that some people had gone to Holland to take the Holmes Wright test after having failed in Gatwick would that then be valid for the all the JAA States of just in the Netherlands?

Beynes in London?

I've been told I'm Green White colour weak, (despite the fact I've never had any trouble playing cricket or lawn tennis!).

I would like to find out if I can pass the Beyne Lantern test, without having to do a full medical in Gatwick.

Does anyone know anywhere in London or if necessary the U.K.
where I can do the Beyne privately?

Hell if necessary I'll even take the wife for a weekend trip to Europe - (if it's the only way to do the test)

Thanks for any responses.

Yes. I called up and asked to book that test specifically and that was that. Apparently, once you pass, you're home and dry for good and will never be retested and hence never again will your defect come back to haunt you. At least, that's what I was told, but I fear the treachery of the JAA.

I have a question about HW. Are the lights supposed to be the same for each colour or do they vary?

Simple, three colours, the same hue on all of them.
Green
White
Red

I was bitter after I failed as I was told to "look for the change in hue aswell"

Never mind

actaully the HW has 2 different shades for each colour, mb even more. but they are definetly not just three hues.

The beyene lantern just has white green yellow red green blue, and each colour has only one hue, hence its an easier test. i failed it due to the colour that they said was white was actaully beige and so i said it was yellow. as soon as I saw the actaul yellow in the test i knew i'd failed.

I hate the CAA

MMM maybe in the Netherlands you got more luck!
We have 3 different AMC and they all got a different alternate colourvision test.

You can do that tests as much as you want. The only problem is that they say that you are colourdefective and that it will not improve. Test yourself! if you pass it is ok and the will give the green light to the JAA. If you fail simply ask them to destroy the test results.
If you ask that they must do that.

here are the folllowing links.

1. www.aeromed.nl (they will test you with the same test that they use at gatwick) (KLM)

2. www.aviationmedical.com (they will test you with the anomaloscoop test)

3. www.alc-srv.com ( I believe they use beyne. the test with the red, orange, yellow, bleu, green flashing dots)

Try all these tests and maybe you are a lucky men then.

Good Luck

colour

Does anybody know what an "airport lights test" is. Is it just another name for Beynes, Anomolascope etc. or is it something different?

Many thanks.
