Or worse still going on a long flight AFTER having set the microwave to 30 mins instead of 30 secs

We can't grumble: best scenery in the UK and full time HEMS too.
Because of our set up, we have very few car chases etc...more mispers/suicides/covert stuff/drugs.
Wouldn't swap it for any other flying job.

Eating a curry thats been reheated 3 or 4 times and takes 5 hours to eat due to multiple deployments is fun too!!
Unlucky!! In 9 years of having curries once a month, and cooking a BIG breakfast, once a month(just the way of the shift pattern), I've never had to leave a meal on the table. Had to eat the last couple of mouthfuls pretty quick at times though.

Mighty Gem you are indeed a lucky sod. I have lost count of the number of times that the food has come out of the oven been slapped on the plate only for the deployment phone to ring. Mashed potato and spaghetti (not together you understand) are never very pallitable having been left standing for an hour!

Not at work at the moment, but I think it'll be about 1400(Apr to Apr), and the Chief Con wants more for next year, upto 2000hrs.

As for the food, the rest of you just need to get your personal admin sorted!!

MightyGem is just on the wrong flight, we hog most of the hours on this flight!! Today, supposedly a quiet day shift, we have already flown 6 times (4:15), my lasagne has been heated 3 times and there are still 3 and a half hours to go to shift change!! Love it
If we up the hours this year, I will be pushing 600, no problems.

They only send MightyGem if it is really bad!

He also doesn't eat much so that he doesn't have to drop the fuel when he has a visitor unlike us fat boys.

I'm lucky to see 250 hrs a year. It's not so much the quantity I'd like to see increase but more importantly the quality. We frequently get bullied into the air by supervision who just want their arses covering. There's nothing more depressing than getting airborne in the wee small hours purely to put a very large tick in an equally large box. Eg. Misper Searches!

It's always puzzled me, but why is it that there are no fellow RAF pilots working for UK police air support units? Am I the only one out there?
To try and answer the question that was posted way back at the beginning of this thread, ASU pilots are as follows:
AAC 49, RAF 11, RN 25, RM 9,(Ex Mil 94, Civil 22)

These figures were obtained last summer, so there may have been some changes since then, plus they only include full time pilots, not relief/floaters.

The golden rule in Police Aviation is - 'No Crabs' - They are much, much more trouble than they are worth.

IMHO of course.

I see, I see, you have all upset me now, so I want a better crewroom, free food, sky TV and a 100% pay bonus. That doesn't make me a bad person!!!
Of course the air force gave me all that you know..........
