As the plan is/was to return G-IROW to a flying condition and then sell her off, I wonder who is/was paying for that to happen.

Perhaps an insurance claim would have been nice!

I feel a thin ice situation coming on.

Could be the Chinese as they have a few Yuan's to spare now they are not buying the Rover group..mind you dont think anyone else will buy a Rover now
Just imagine the adverts from the far East

Of course if they dont want to buy the Gullible Eagle then perhaps the MOD can hire an agent to do it..someone who could sell condoms to the Vatican perhaps...

STOP PRESS the MOD have signed a deal with the Chinese folk and done a straight swop

With its recent history, I'm sure the MoD would not even blink with the prospect of getting G-IROW back in the air, well out of the crate anyway;

The Ministry of Defence has been severely criticised over an order of eight Chinook helicopters, costing £259 million, which remain grounded because of technical problems. MPs on the public accounts committee said the affair was "one of the worst examples of equipment procurement that the committee has seen".

So far!!!

This going on a bit now..........almost a war of attrition. About time someone in " the know " whose identity cannot be compromised " spilled the beans ".

Even a person of limited mentality like myself will realise that there is something to hide.........or am I just the prototype cynic?

Best wishes to all honest Pruners .

E5,

GE and those in the know, IMHO, are allowing this thread to continue unhindered in order to hide the real truth.

Any cock and bull story that appears here mereley assists in the GE cover-up allowing the real story behind GE to stay hidden from the public/charity contributer/supporter of GE (global).

Lets ponder on the theory that there is actually something going on here.

Remember that there has been an SIB investigation and the CO at the time gave GE an letter, "stating that there was found to be NO case to answer" .

What happens there then, if there IS subsequently found to be a case to answer?

SS

By the way, when is 'GE, The Book' coming out?
In the time since GE ended, JK Rowling has had the time to write another Harry Potter book.

Of course this is purely conjecture on my behalf to encourage discussion.

what if.....

just an idea but what if the reason it took off with a short time till expiry on the c of a was that it was never meant to fly any further than it did....?. It would explain why the trip was expanded to fill the time to get to the pont where it wanted to be and the cock and bull stories about why it was all of. Was the pilot perhaps a bit reluctant to fly over the jungle?

Well after Paula's return to form this weekend and I am not taking the Pee..think she did that?
Can we see this as an omen for Global Eagle to be resurrected and finish the job off?? I have seen a sneak preview of some litrature of a potential film they are planning, I took my digi cam with me and got this picture before I got thrown out!

Brilliant, I haven't chuckled so much since........ the last time.
This thread has some of the finest investigative people around, without doubt.

'The Man Who Knew Too Much', may actually be contributing in a big way later this week. Not so much the case is cracked, but the crate has been positively located and 'someone' will be nearby when it is emptied.

The famous 'indemnity letter' is now a matter for concern. Some have decided that it's existance needs verification, perhaps for future action and the implications caused by the wording of those concerned.

It appears to be the 'Holy Grail' of the GE story.

Of course this is purely conjecture on my behalf to encourage discussion.

Happy aniversary!!!

Well done! the expedition celebrates its one year aniversary today. This time last year amidst lots of pomp and ceremony global ego went to set off and.....nothing!. The rule of pppppp reared its head again. Apparently an unconnected turbo boost cable on an untested engine was the cause of bad weather . Still, atleast it was not an omen of things to come......

Only 7 days to go when we can celebrate the launch anniversary itself.
Hopefully I will be able to get this cleared up by then, as long as the next couple of days go to plan.

Mmmm.... plan & contact with the enemy never went together.

(For non military types - the saying goes, no plan survives contact with the enemy!)

Unhappy DARN IT - I MISSED THE CELEBRATIONS

Oh Bu??er,

I didn't spot Sid's post on the 19th letting us know that it was the anniversary of the mission launch in 6 days - which would have been yesterday, and I missed all the News reports, Press Releases, Updates, Celebrations, Parties etc.

Did anyone get invited to the Anniversary party and manage to obtain any up to date info ?

Sid - I bet you were there

Sorry for the delay Coco, I have been trying to get my head around a few of the things that I have recently been made aware of on the GE front.

As I have now been privy to more than most into the present happenings of the reminants of GE, in particular G-IROW, I am not at liberty to post my knowledge for fear of compromising those who have assisted in the quest.

Along the lines of the question, 'Would you like to know who shot JFK, but if we tell you, you will be able to tell no-one?'
......The truth really is too important to tell anyone who asks!

However, I can tell of some news, in that there is to be a further attempt on the original mission, with a few more high tec gadgets on board. Coupled with an intelligent mind and a multi-lingual communication system, hopes are that this attempt planned for early next year, will be successful.

As for any celebrations on the 26th, the evening was very quiet at a certain pub somewhere in the north of England!

What's this Sid going soft..annoucing he knows something but then holding back!
Well my good God fearing friends I also have my ear to the ground and yes they are planning another bash at this!! There are minor sticking points like what will the weather be like in Skegness in July etc well you can understand the caution after the last planning debacle
The cost of the new trip will obviously have to be raised by donations etc. I have seen some of the ideas that have come from the team on how to get funds, some are quite novel

If all this turns out to be false..I will have to revert to the good old tried and tested methods of approaching Sid

Volrider,

If Helga was just to sit on my lap, I would tell all. Of that I can assure you.

However, if that weekend last summer was anything to go by, anything you can get me set up with will ensure the information I know will not pass my lips!! (Much like those 'lovely' ladies trying to get a kiss that night!!)

Gladys did look different during the day, didn't she!!

E5, I hope not.

Mmm,

" The cost of the new trip will obviously have to be raised by donations etc"

The term " once bitten....twice shy " comes to mind. Will the next effort be for charity or is it a face saving exercise ?

Cannot see too many people coughing up more of their hard earned dosh after the last debacle.

Silly me went to the Global Eagle web site to see if any "breaking news" was there about the new "attempt"..hate that word it sort of sums up the potential that its doomed for failure......where have we heard that one before
Well shock horror its gone!!!! really gone....like it never existed...expired....never again to be gracing our TFT's or CRT's

So have they sold it for a few quid to buy bits for the next trip or did they forget to pay the bill..either way you look at it you can be sure of one thing.....
THEY ARE GOING TO TELL US BUGGER ALL...Still why should they I mean who gave sponsor ship money time effort and most of all those that gave support and then lets not forget the kids etc that were given chats at school about the project by the team, wonder if they have been back to explain ...ummmmm got more chance of Wayne Rooney singing in my church choir!

"I think the parott is deceased, no longer living in fact its f****** snuffed it mate" as John Cleese once said

Whole lot of nothing.....

So whats going on with GE other than a whole lot of nothing?-been trying to get some comment from the Indian Air Force and find out why they were so negligent in allowing such damage to happen to a British Military Aircraft but not getting anywhere. Fired off a few e mails and still waiting for an answer, wait out.
My sources tell me that there is a clean and good condition machine sat in a hangar at XD, can this be the damaged machine all sorted and ready to go again?. Sadly the pics were of the mobile phone variety and not clear enough but will attempt to post some once a better set from a digital camera become available. That was a crafty import of the machine that got past the attention of my sources...bugger!

can anybody remember what was happening this time last year? would be easy to check but looks like every trace of GE has been erased......

Hi ML,

Long time and all that.

When you get the opportunity, can you try and find out which engine is ACTUALLY fitted to G-IROW. There must be an engine plate somewhere.
Interestingly, it is believed here that GE had a Rotax 912S engine. According to G-INFO , G-IROW should have a ROTAX 914-UL engine fitted.

It may be one in the same, but just another little abnormality piece in the jigsaw that may need considering.
