Why does everyone keep emailing them for updates? The last email they sent out to everyone said “We have a huge volume of applications to review and would appreciate it if you only contact us if your query is urgent.”. We’re all in the same boat and everyone emailing asking for updates and clearly not reading what they said isn’t going to make things any quicker.

Just received good-ish news I guess. Been told that I've passed the online stages and been put onto a waiting list for assessment centre.
Further on in the e-mail it then says, "due to the high volume of successful applications, it may be that we are unable to invite you to an assessment centre this year. If this is the case you will be able to reapply for an opportunity in 2024 when the role re-opens"

firstly congratulations, it seems it’s just the sheer volume of applicants you couldn’t be offered an assessment centre straight off the bat. It does seem to me however this is the classic “due to the volume of applicants we are unable to take your application further” you should be guaranteed a place next year if that was the case of too many applicants. Very odd approach Indeed. Good luck anyway.

I haven't heard anything yet. My guess is they have received a savage amount of applications and many capable candidates. I worked on a similar thing for hiring software developer apprentices and the best way I can describe it is like you want 10 fish, hope 100 apply, but the whole sea applies. I'd guess there are some of the digital interviews they just won't have time to review. After reviewing them, they likely had more they wanted to progress than they can accomodate for and are trying to cut it down. They'll have set assessment days and can only fit so many into that. Absolutely try not to feel too defeated if you're not successful getting a place. There is a huge amount of luck coming into play here. They have 30 places to fill and there absolutely will have been more than 30 applicants who would make excellent airline pilots.
I wouldn't be surprised if more of us receive the above email soon as they work through candidates.

Congratulations to all that have made to the assessment centre stage, I have a strong feeling only a small amount of the very strong applicants who were outstanding in the application process got some news today. I believe that some of us next week will also hear back if we’ve been successful or not to the next stage.

i reckon they’re probably going from A-Z or something similar down the list, or recent applications to first applications
just my opinion

hmmm not sure about this, in that sense, would it not be strange that “outstanding” ones have been only given a ‘waiting list ‘ offer. That means there will still be people waiting till next week who have actually got the place confirmed.

it is a tricky one! One of my friends I think applied on the very first week they started and he’s been offered a assessment day, I believe they working through the list who applied first to last and working their way down.

I haven’t heard from anyone that’s been declined yet, but seeing some of the feeds I see some people sent of emails and been told to wait till next week to hear back, I guess some successful applicants will be sent out for next week and some of us unfortunately will get failure email. This is my personal opinion what I think will happen.

I wouldn't read too much in to the order of correspondence. From previous experience with Aer Lingus, I had a "you've been successful" email a few weeks after the majority..
Good luck all. This industry is competitive - if unsuccessful, try and find a way to get there. After all, resilience is the key!

It will be an anxious time for the TUI recruitment team too. It's the first time they are running this and no doubt the pressure will be on for them to get 30 candidates for the company. The last thing they want is to come to the end of the process and not have 30 people they want to hire. Or even worse - have guys dropping out of the course costing the company big £. Careers will be relying on this programme running smoothly and getting 30 people from zero to flying 737s within 2 years. Some people can just about get from zero to flying a Cessna in 2 years.
My guess is the waiting list will be used for scenarios such as not enough selected after the assessment days, so they hold another. Similar for the final stage in the flight simulator. Or, 30 are picked and for whatever reason some can't progess due to something like not being able to get a Class 1 medical.
Or - they will create a waiting list and from that, start picking people to invite to assessment days.
Can at least be sure they are reading this thread and having a laugh!
