JAR Compliant PPL
I guess UKFT's JAR Compliant FAA PPL must be accepted by the CAA if Jolie is allowed to fly in the UK.

If you don't like Angelina, then don't look!
I know some of you are sick of the coverage of Angelina, but for those of you who aren't, here's some goss and piccies.
Before she passed her PPL:
US Weekly spoke with Ajay Sinha, who has been giving flying lessons to Angelina Jolie in Long Beach, California. "She does very well," Sinhah said. "She is an above-average student." He added, "She can actually take off and land on her own." And she's no diva. "She is so down to earth," he said. "She is the nicest person."
**She passed her PPL European JAR Compliant - JAA and FAA Licences in the USA early in 2005 and is continuing with Ajay, her instructor in the Cirrus, at U.K Flight Training in CA.**
"Angelina Jolie enjoyed learning to fly so much, she studied British and American aeronautics (?) to make sure she can take to the skies anywhere in the world. The Tomb Raider star is in the throes of buying her first plane after admitting she loved learning how to become a pilot. She says, "I'm taking the English and the American courses at the same time. In America there's one test; in England there are eight. "This is the hardest thing I've ever done - just the work of it and the commitment and how long it's taken. The classes, the science and math of it. Meteorology. Navigation. All of it. "I'm more careful about flying than I've been about anything."
Good to hear she's taking it all so seriously and that she found it hard work. See, she's human after all!!

I think, I think,
Her SR22 is N-registered, so she really needs that FAA PPL....
( No EASA registration on SR22's yet )
break, break
Yes RT is different on the other side of the pond.

If anyone reading this is actually at Rainbow Air just now or has been recently could you please help give me some insight into the school.
I've been looking at the school with great interest for the last month and am seriously considering taking out a hefty loan and getting myself over there.
The course and the cost sound fantistic, especially the 20 grand for 500 hours jet time in the Phillipines.
But before comitting myself to a loan of this size can anyone back up what the school have told me about the excellent job prospects with the company in the Phillipines.
Also, how is the accommodation? Cheap, decent, far from the school?
Thanks in advance

ACF
I'm at Angel City Flyers, next door. We use the planes at Rainbow. However, I feel the instruction here is far superior as they teach you both the JAR and FAA standards.
Started my PPL in late March and by the end of next week will have completed my ME/CPL. (finished IR last month).

ukft/ rainbow air
I did my FAA, JAA PPL, IMC and night rating with UKFT. ACF rents rainbow's aircraft but do not have any JAA instructor or examiner on staff. UKFT and Rainbow Air operate from the same building however UKFT handles the JAA side of the business as they have a JAA instructor with examiner's authority. I suggest that you go to Long Beach and check them out before parting out with your money.

Yes ACF rents aircraft from Rainbow and so does UKFT and PCH, that is correct.
John Tavolta flies a QANTAS jet on occasion and that metal rocker with the mullet flies for Astreus, big wow-ee, doesn't mean I'm going to run out and buy shares in them.
Clamb, nobody leaves Long Beach with a JAA PPL, they have a JAA compliant licence which is a FAA PPC (Private Pilot Certificate) which is ICAO recognised. BillieBob hit the nail on the head. If I am wrong I'll hold my hands up, please feel free to respond.
Charles, be careful what you write on here, I think we all know who 'vinil' is.
UKFT and Rainbow Air are definetly not the same company.
I would agree that a site visit is a good move, I didn't make one party due to cost and timing, however 2 indepth telephone discussions convinced me that I was making the right move and I haven't been proven wrong.
ACF's owner holds both FAA and JAA CFI/CFII/MEI qualifications in addition to FAA ATP and JAA ATPL. THe one piece of info correct from the last poster is that he is not a JAA examiner.
Whats this about 500 hours in the Phillipines? What's the info on that gsxr750lrc - Jesus . . . what a username
I posted a message on a thread about Rainbow, just check my previous posts and you'll find it easy enough.

Cheers for all ur responses.
The 500 hrs in the Phillipines was something i found out about when i called them up.
Basically, it sounds like if you take the 500 hrs (£20000) in the Phillipines you'll have a good chance of being employed by the company. If this happens you'll be using FAA ratings therefore negating the need to pay Tayflight £10000 to convert to JAA when you return to Britain.
Don't quote me on all this as it was a quick phonecall a few weeks ago. I just wanted to know if anyone else had taken this option already.
It appealed to me as i've got no desire to return to the UK once i'm done!

JAA PPL
I did my FAA PPL with UKFT and then passed two JAA exams and a flight test with the examiner and got my JAA PPL. It was pretty straight forward.
I am glad you are happy flying with ACF. Can some tell me how does the ACF internship program work?

Looks far to expensive to me.
You are better off getting your FAA multi commercial etc where it is the cheapest, then do a different time building program. You can be getting much more time in business jets for much cheaper than they are giving you time in a kingair. Then go to florida and do the JAA conversion.

The FAA PPL does not have a night rating as such. The FAA PPLs are automatically allowed to fly at night as some of the PPL training includes night training.
I suppose it is at the descretion of whoever carrys out the conversion whether they will also give you a Night qualification on the JAA PPL.
Doesn't matter however, as you could use your privileges of the FAA "night" portion to fly at night anyway, so long as the FAA ticket is still valid.
